Sync 3 updates
« on: February 11, 2019, 05:14:55 pm »
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with their Sync 3 updates?
Ive got a 2017 GT Coupe and the updates cannot be loaded by the service agent. They have advised me that Ford Australia are aware of the issue but have not come up with a fix yet.Its been over 2 months and I'm starting to get concerned as without the update the maps are also 2 years out of date and can't be updated either. The outdated version I am running is 2.0 on the Sync and ANZ 16 on the maps.
If anyone else still has these versions installed then they are out of date.
I would appreciate if you could post a reply on here if you are having the same issues and then maybe we can start putting a bit of pressure on Ford to get the issue fixed.
These update should be installed at the service interval but it would be worth checking as it appears were not always advised if there not successful.

Might have to go version 2.7 before you can go to version 3.0.
Have you tried loading it yourself?

Yes tried direct download and via USB but neither work. The Ford Service manager advised me that a certain number of Sync 3s are experiencing the same issue they have tried 3 times without success. So yours is all ok I'm assuming ?
Cheers

It has loaded the updates ok.
Always a little tricky getting it to work.
Last update it did was by wifi, but it didn’t change the version.

I just bought a 2017 Mustang and tried to install the sync3 update via USB. I have followed all the instructions as outlined by Ford, though the system would not auto run the update. It detects the thumb drive okay.

Hopefully someone knows the solution to this??

So you downloaded the software update onto the USB then unpacked the files on it, then put it into your car. Yes?

After messing around with today, I was able to upgrade Sync3 to V3.0.

I had to format the thumbdrive to exFAT format, then unzipped the folder from Ford. Opened the unzipped folder, had 1x folder (SyncMyRide) and 2x files (autoinstall.lst) and (DONTINDX.MSA).

I copied the folder and both files onto the thumbdrive and is now upgraded to V3,0. Took around 20-30 minutes to complete.

Well done. It’s a process getting it right but you persevered and got there.
You would of hoped they would make the process a bit easier.
