Some forums have an option in the user profile for 'Name:', similar to how we have 'Location' so possibly a mod here could turn that feature on or implement it?

I considered using a pseudonym a long time ago, like maybe Gary, Chuck, John, etc.... so I wouldn't have to go through that stupid song and dance routine of ' Aww, ain't that cute. She said something about cars.' or 'Don't you have a sewing bee or something to go to?' But, I figured that if I just said I don't know when I didn't know, double checked everything, verified everything with multiple original sources published by Ford, didn't annoy the car guys with how I felt at the moment, or get angry and throw a fit, and provide simple, clear, step-by-step instructions on how to do something that I knew how to do, and overlook a boatload of inappropriate comments, eventually they would accept me, at first as a freak of nature, and eventually as just another person that loves old cars. That seems to working out ok. The gurus don't much care for me, and nothing is a more effective thread-killer in certain circles than the mention of my name, but, I am pleased to say, the general population has behaved themselves far better than I expected. You guys have been great. So, I'll just keep on using my name. :smile01:

Ron would be more fitting, I recall some Veronica's are nicknamed 'Roni'.

that stupid song and dance routine of ' Aww, ain't that cute. She said something about cars.' or 'Don't you have a sewing bee or something to go to?'

Those comments sound very American but I guess it's because ... what the hell is a sewing bee?

To be honest, I haven't seen any prejudice on Aus. car forums towards women, usually it's compliments welcoming them to the fraternity.

I'll just keep on using my name.

No probs with the name but the butterfly .....

and overlook a boatload of inappropriate comments,

I know exactly what you are saying. I worked in the motorcycle industry on the parts counter for quite a while and in the few shops I worked in there were several females who I worked side by side with. Some guys who came in would never believe them when they would go into technical information. They would get me to back up what they were saying but some customers just can't handle being told by a woman. Come race day, they got to put those guys in their place when my female colleagues could show them up. Was always worth a good laugh.

That 'sewing bee' thing is something that the old women used to do when I was a little girl. They had like a club of ladies that enjoyed sewing, making clothes, doing needlepoint samplers, making quilts, that sort of stuff. They would have these contests to see which one of them got to talk crazy to the other ladies, in a very polite way, of course, until the next contest. It was an old-school country folks kind of thing.  :smile01: That's what women did. Cook, sew, clean house, chase children. As far as sewing goes, I take suction to a whole new level.  I do all of that other stuff, and am pretty good at it, but, it's something I do, not who I am. Things are a lot better now than they used to be, though. The misogynistic troglodyte seems to be a vanishing breed.  :smile01:

And, the butterfly is a picture that I took while hiking in the mountains. He's SOOO pretty.  :smile01:
