Title: The Fatkids Clone
Post by: Shermatt on September 26, 2009, 08:13:02 pm
Just thought Id show everyone the new toy that has been in the pipeline for close to a year.

Ive been too busy with everyone else's cars that I could never get a chance to work on mine so I had the boys that did Ricks Eleanor do it for me

You can see it next to Ricks bus here...this was the last I saw it

Thats pretty well the last I saw of it. It has all new floors, boot pans, doors, guards, front radiator support, battery apron etc. Apparently its allmost ready for paint. Im going to spray it up as a GT350 clone. Originally a C code 289 auto

Gonna throw a built 289....347 stroker bottom end??? has 351 windsor heads. Think there 4V or 4 barrel heads

Anyone know what the the little "4" means on the front of the head. All the yanks over here nickname em GT40 heads.

The manifold is a ford experimental hi rise jobbie. As far as I can tell there were a limited number of these (under 500 original) that were sold over the counter from ford for the GT350 and boss302's. Its really hard to get any info on this particular manifold. If you punch in the part number on the net, you get the same thing..."what is it?"...Think Hev's got one aswell

I threw a Pete Jackson geardrive in it along with the mallory dizzy.

I bought a complete rebuilt top loader and shifter, bell housing, clutch, clutch plate, linkages and the under dash pedal set up a couple of weeks ago for $300us...I thought that was a steal..I was expecting to have to rebuild the box at that price.

Im looking at throwing on a disc brake front end but it seems very hard to find for the 65 66, so Im going to do a bit of a mod using 68-73 spindles and calipers, 65/66 inner tie rods, 70-73 outer tie rods and maybe a 70 dual resevoir.

As for the ar5e end, dont want to use a 67-68 9" so i will wait and see what pops up

I found this on Sleezebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220484038179&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

As for rear end brakes...thinking of finding aset local or Ive been told that 98 Ford fronteir (or something like that) bolt straight up

Odviously going with the white/blue stripe combo with blue and white PONY interior. GT350 side scoops, bonnet scoop, front spoiler and the rear valance is the GT set up. Sorta like this but with the front GT350 spoiler and side vents

See how I go getting the time to paint it as I still have ricks eleanor sitting here and I have to start a friends GT350 68 fastback...almost finished...all in primer, just needs the body work and paint...then re-assemble

Im definately using the same radiator set up that rick just bought....going to use a 67-68 twin fan set up in a 65/66. Few mods, but Ive seen a 69 in a 65 so why not. Just have to fab up the battery tray.

Going there today, so I will get some pics.

Anyone know what the "4" means on those heads??

Peesh

why not move battery to the trunk? would that make the battery mod easier

just a thought out loud

Post by: Shermatt on September 27, 2009, 09:05:10 pm
Allready considered that but its just a matter of turning the battery tray 45 degrees and a fabbed bracket as a support....its not a biggy.

went dowm there yasterday and picked up a car and took a few pics of there insanely clean work enviroment.

Was pretty hard to get any decent pics but the car is VERY straight.

Late afternoon I cleaned up most of the rear interior panels and steel trim that I sandblasted and painted it all....so its baby steps at a time inbetween other peoples cars.

I would really like it back together before the Turkey rod run in November as Im going to sell it once its finished....shame as I really wanted to keep this one. The under carriage will look as good as the exterior and thats what the fans want.

Its not as if Im going to run out of project cars but I really want to keep one...just one...even a coupe

cool sometimes the dumbest suggestions are the ones that have been over looked......... learnt that from years of keeping my mouth shut thinking the person was on top of it only to find if i had opened my bl00dy mouth would have saved some serious heart ache.....

Went and picked up all the Pony 2 tone interior tonight and all the new front suspension from sunstate late afternoon...$2200 and still need a tonne more.

Im now exeeding Ricks boxes in the way of parts...thats a good sign

When I will find a chance to paint the car is another story but Id like to get it painted within a few weeks as Im meant to pick it up on monday in primer

Justin....may be doing the battery in the boot deal after all...cheers

Well, finally got it home on Friday and been rrubbing it down all weekend with a long block.

3 highs and 2 minimal low points. Its super straight.

Still got to weld the frame to the floor and weld the seat risers in. Hopefully be in a booth by friday if I can find the time...dont want it sitting in primer for 6 months

Picked up my order from suntstate mustang on Thursday. Dropped $2200 in new parts and still have a bill of a heap of other stuff down there. All new 2 tone PONY interior. I almost have more boxes than Rick now.

Really hope I can sqeeze a day here and there to put it all back together

Don't quote me but from memory 4V stands for 4v heads, meaning bigger ports, valves etc.

If they are 4V's you should be almost able to put you fist in the ports...unless you have hands the size of dinner plates.

seems like your domain has been blacklisted. Hotmail and the usual public email stuff use blacklists to filter out so called 'SPAM'.

this seems like the issue.

It would be the host he is sending from rather than the domain itself, usually.

well this is as far as I got today.

Put it in a grey sealer, painted the door jambs and inner areas....threw some paint on the outside and fine lined the stripes and it was 530pm....wouldnt be done untill 1 am so I pulled the pin...finish it off first thing tomoz and redo the front seats while I wait for it to dry...then its back to my day job

was pretty happy with how straight it is....you could almost run a laser level down it. Think I may of
got a run at the front where the bar hides it but will check tomoz. Painting aint my forte but Im better than Rex hunt. Got carried away and painted things that your never gonna see like where the loom runs under the scuff plates and stuff...but thats how I like my stuff.

Damn shame I got over spray over my fully sick wheels. Once its got paint on it, i get hood lining in and the front and rear glass fitted and put it in storage untill I can find some time to finish it...just didnt want it sitting around in primer

Think the Fatkid pulled it off, will see how she looks tomorrow with some blue and a few coats of clear

Well...this is as far I got today...atleast its painted and sealed from the elements. Not a fan of doing the stripes last...never going to do that again...what a bloody nightmare...you need shares in 3M tape.

Found out today...the fatkid cant spray metalic paint....got it 90% done and kept stuffin it up...so I got Romeo to finish it off fo me as I only had 200mls of paint left and I need to get home and do a 1000 emails.

Its now parked next to ricks Eleanor....thats where it will stay for a bit

Ive decided to get some of the interior put in today as the glass guy is coming to throw it all in so I have to get the roof lining in before he gets here. Ricks Eleanor is having a few things done to it by Mike so I might aswell get as much done to mine while I can.

If I can get all the interior dash and doors painted and the new clutch pedal fitted...I will be happy. Just cant wait to throw that 347 in it...been sitting at the depot in a corner for donkeys years

will post pics later

Sorry brudda...missed that one...question to your answer is

you can use spandex but latex is really the best.....tight lycra works also but only if shes wearing high heels and you hold her crouched forward with her arms slightly twisted at the wrists to get that "arched back" effect...should work out fine

Haha - when wifey brings it up here I remind her that it's called an eternity ring for a reason... as it'll be an eternity before she get's one!

Its getting there steve.

Its no trailer queen but its definately going to be a very nice driver

Im not a fan of there welding skills but the body work is laser straight.

If I had the time, I would of built it a little differently

Apart from that, Its gonna look extremely sharp.

Everything going back in the car is BRAND NEW. Rebuilt all the heater box and ducting yesterday, fitted all new rubbers to the vent windows (pain in the asre) new tail lights and housings, all new window rubbers and new front screen, tri bar head lights (there a joke) all new dash chrome and guages, ins panels and glove box, inner glove box (pain). Fitted the tank and added a bit of a difference by decking the boot area with Black carpet. Sounds weird but has been installed so the tank sits over the carpet....I like it and it looks pretty trick

when I go to sell it, its going to be easier to say whats NOT new with car than what is new.

Only things I have retained so far are the vent window frames, door glass, and rear screen. Keeping the original rear interior panels and vents and redoing the blue pony interior with blue and white instead.

Time will tell but I think its coming along nicely.....just need to find my drivers window glass....put it somewhere safe...odviously very safe...I cant find it :[

Thought I would quickly throw up what I got done last week (well took pics of as it starting raining)

The rear panels where painted about 600 times and very flakey. Scuffed em back and they look like shjt after I painted them. had a spare set so I thought I would have a crack at something new.

Used aviation stripper on the old paint and took the practically down to plastic using a wire brush very lightly. Havent got a pic painted but they came up very newish.

I pulled apart the heater box and recond'd that. Give a clean, paint and re-seal and some new ducting and spouts to the dash. Brand new plastic thingy (not the cardboard job) and cleaned up all the cables and run some CRC down the lines to make them easy to operate

I fitted the drivers door glass and fitted all new rubbers in the vents and new rollers and door mechanism's...that about where I stopped. It kept rining for a few days so I did what I could of the new PONY interior inside

Went to the markets on sunday and made up a stupid sticker just for shiz and giggles

Before I left for Vegas I thought Id throw the new rear leafs and hangers and the 9" in

While I was getting my flywheel machined I had to get some U bolts made up as the old 8" ones were just itty bitty ones. Had them made an extra few inches longer so I have room too dump it at the back...(Whenever that time comes)

I think I might keep the rear drums on instead of going disc as there considerably bigger than what was on there and they look in good shape...quick rebuild should help aswell

In the end I hope shes gonna be a nice tuff driver and if I can get it done before the "Turkey RodRun" up in Daytona...that would just be fantastic. Need to sell it straight away..(bit of a shame) but Sheri got her approvals to go ahead to build the new workshop and second story apartment for our international guests to stay in (that means you clowns aswell)...Im a bit eager to get back inside a workshop also

Looks awesome Matt ... so what's the next project?
Title: The Fatkids Clone
Post by: Shermatt on January 19, 2010, 01:50:25 pm
Next project....get the interior finished

Then get that engine started...YEAH BABY!!!  :p:p

Should have that done by september maybe ...lol

That PONY interior is drop dead SE xY

I had planned on spending a few hours on it this morning and then at 830am ended up driving to Georgia to buy a car....buggr

Had a fella offer to swap it (car for car) for a 66 AC cobra...turns out the AC was titled as a 2002 so I didnt do it but the AC was Danm nice...shame it was a 2002 title

As soon as the interior is in and I can hear that engine run....Im gonna dump it for $22

I just dont have the time to work on my own cars no more which is a damn shame.

Think I will finish my S code converts maybe....one day...oh...nah...the 65 mussy ute...thats the next project whenever I can get it here...thats gonna be a cool little unit...may even go RHD and belt around over here in the states with an ozzie flag in the back window....lol

Oh yeah...found those other 2 matching wheels...not the ones I had planned for the old girl but they sorta work

anyway....this is where Im at and where Im stopping....just dont have the time

Matt, for info needed for the boys...
Title: The Fatkids Clone
Post by: Shermatt on February 19, 2010, 12:41:34 pm
had Angelo over all day....got it ready to fire and the ring gear needed flipping on the flywheel.....

$250 to get it pulled out and $30 to flip or repair the ring gear...day stopped

I loaded the car today onto the trailer to take to Mikes house....and I said to Sheri...F#ck that thing looks TUFF...It actually looks better than I give it credit for

When I dropped it of to Mikes and put it in his driveway......All the new chrome blingin...the straight lines..... I know now Ive done an AMAZING job on that car...its when it stares you in the face every evening haunting me that I need work on other peoples cars, mine makes me feel sick.

Just sits on the back burner.....atleast the time I do put into it......It has come along way....just wish the floor pan under the back seat was welded correctly (like an Ozzie) in the first place and those few little things that bothered me I could redo...no time for the fatkid

But the good ol saying..everyone allways picks on the Fatkid  (theres more behind that nickname than meets the eye)

Now its in  Mikes driveway...its a WankFest of chrome.....Mikes neybies came out and checked under the hood and said...."Geez, that engine musta cost $10 Grand"...kinda cool compliment....guy even took a photo with his phone

Now I have Cages 68 fastback (project Sheri) in my driveway staring at me with only $500 to throw at it and to be honest....have no idea where to start
