Post by: Phillip28 on January 04, 2024, 01:15:11 pm
Hi all getting to the end of a long restoration and have put a new wiring kit in my 64 1/2 nut can’t get brake lights to work there are only 2 wires going into tail lights does anyone know how this set up works before I have to spend money on a auto electrician thanks Phil ps the new wiring kit is American auto wire . Also indicators and lights all work just no brakes.

I'd be looking at the brake light switch then.

I think in a 64 car this is a pressure switch on the master cylinder so my experience with my '66 which has a mechanical switch on the pedal arm won't help but I had no end of trouble with it and eventually replaced it with a micro switch and have had no more trouble.

Hi thanks have put a switch on the pedal but looking at the research I have done on the internet it may have something to do with the combo switch on the steering column which I replaced and rewired problem being the repo ones have different wire colours and no instructions so I may have got something wrong.
