Hi everyone,
I'm in the market for a 1969 Mustang 428 Cobra jet candy apple red with black trim in manual transmission. Have a relatively large budget as long as the car is right.

Go for gold. Or red.

that looks a nice car in the photos , should fetch a decent price .

If this sold for $172K - https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2021-shannons-autumn-timed-online-auction/LB57FFN9DY9ZC073/ (https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2021-shannons-autumn-timed-online-auction/LB57FFN9DY9ZC073/)
... then the 428 is worth at least $250K. That's a big step up from where they were just two years ago.
And it fits in with the $350K achieved for this - https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2021-shannons-autumn-timed-online-auction/O7BE57KF44EC58CR/ (https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2021-shannons-autumn-timed-online-auction/O7BE57KF44EC58CR/)

Interesting that the bidding got to just over $90K with the reserve not met

I think the reserve would have been 3-digits, but it shows what a dodgy sale the $172K S-code was.
This car had received a colour change from one nice colour to another, and while some of the under-hood stuff was missing/incorrect, so was the $172K 390 S-code.
Overall, I would have paid more for this car and less for the other.
But - I haven't seen either in person...

I agree with you Jiffy. I've got a Candy Apple Red 69 S code which is fairly original and restored but the CJ would have been my preference and worth more if in similar condition
