Title: Dreaded Ford Windsor 255
Post by: heeno on March 24, 2017, 04:05:34 pm
Hello all,
I have a 66 mustang which has an 80's motor in it, just not sure which year. When taking the starter out some time back I wrote down the number that was stamped underneath. It reads EOAE DC3 20. Took the tappet cover off and read a plate 3K14 on the head. Also spotted a brass plate just behind the manifold which had the last 2 numbers 86. Incidentally the tappet cover had a stamp inside which had 86 on them. I have the skinny 12 mm autolite B 666 spark plugs with the 351W firing order.

So without ripping the heads off to measure the bore 3.68 v 4.00 inches I was wondering if there is any other tell tale signs of whether I have or do not have that dreaded 255 Windsor motor which I have read was around from 80-82.
