Help appreciated surely mustang enthusiasts think the same :)

Found this one on ebay

Saw that one Paul just reading about it
Hoping no power required
-
This type will need power connected. Easy as 1,2,3.
I bought mine from Rocket Ind. Works great.
-
I spent $80 at Autobarn and got a self adhesive one for the back window. It works well. A lot of guys I know have used an ordinary aerial mounted under the dash, across the width of the car. Make a bracket to bolt it to, and cable ties along it to stop rattles.
Cheers, Ron B

I have a non powered one fitted up under the dash which works pretty well. Just happened to buy two of them when I was searching around (from the U.S. of course) and have kept the spare one for future use.
If you are interested, PM me and I will give you details.

Will try these suggestions thanks gents

I have just had one of the powered antennas fitted to my 70 Fast back.
I was installed up behind the rear view mirror and sun visors, the power cable was run
through the roof lining and down inside the "A" pillar
very neat and tidy install
total cost ( including antenna ) =$140
The antenna is the same type as advertised on E-Bay ( mentioned earlier in this thread )
Cheers

Hi good to hear sound like a pro install. How is power kept to it as there is no switch so I'd say you would have a red led on under dash at all times ?
-
I just got a $20.00 ebay jobbie from china, Stuck on the inside of the windscreen up behind tint on passengers side. Works ok in the country and great in the city!!
-
How did you wire it up ?
-
No wiring needed. Just stick it on the glass and plug in antenna wire to the radio. Similar to this.

Great thanks ! I want to hide under dash so wonder if it will work ?
-
Do any of you pick up AM reception this way or only FM stations? I have powered hidden antenna and only get FM stations
-
Good question ! I assume am is better reception
My radio is only AM so anyone that can help with this question above
-
I get both AM and FM. I ran the antenna wire up behind the pillar. With the sunvisor up, it is still very hard to pick it, even in the car!! It cannot be seen from outside the car unless you really look for it. Do not think it would work mounted under the dash unless you live in the city and have very good reception. I am using an original 69 AM/FM radio, and I think they have better reception than the new radio's anyhow

Anyone used and are happy with this item ? I tried non powered and found it poor
If so where did you mount ? I assume this can be DIY
-
Also instructions say no ground needed ? I think they are wrong as there is a red power and black cable
-
As I have posted earlier on in this thread. Once again go to Rocket Ind in Hunntingwood near Eastern Creek and purchase the powered hidden antenna made by Auto-Loc. It's. A great product, must be fitted on a screen either front or rear to work the best. Around $50. It's a cheap investment in my eyes I think. I have positioned mine on bottom side of front screen right behind the wiper arm. Can't see it from the outside. Two wires only, one earth and one power. Easy peaseeee!!!! AM and FM work great
-
Thanks but not keen on a windscreen fitted one .. Under dash is my goal

Well maybe Einstein can help you, under dash mount will lose at least 50% of reception if not more. Just mount a normal rubber stubby antenna under the dash.
Good luck with it.

Appreciate help but even after looking up your one its says not good for AM :leaving:

What's AM????? ;)
Under dash aerial doesn't work. ask me how I know?
Evan.
-
I'll bite how ? AM is the latest and greatest !
-
I'm running a 'True Trapper' which looks the goods. Unfortunately, no aerial is gonna work from under a metal dash.

Ok so no one has even he powered ones under dash and had success ?
-
I am currently looking at alternatives for mounting an antenna to get decent reception on the FM band. The fender mounting is not an option. I currently have a metal mast antenna hidden inside the car and it does ok, kind of, as long as the radio station is close by. I have tried a number of hidden antennas inside the car and these are junk in an old car (in my opinion). I just ordered a 300mm long rubber boat mast antenna off Ebay and will have a crack at mounting this in behind the grille. Hopefully it will work?
Other than that, does anyone else have any other ideas?

Ditch FM altogether & buy one of the Pure Highway DAB+ adaptors. I bought mine off ebay (from the UK) & couldn't be happier. It has a tiny stick-on aerial that sits at the top corner of my windscreen. You can hardly see it & the reception in metro Melbourne is brilliant. I've got mine connected to the AUX input of my CAS USA-66 but I believe it also has an FM modulator built in.
Evan.

You can buy a hidden aerial which is a small black oblong about 50 mm long and needs a power wire to it. I have one in our 65 which is hidden behind the seat belt on the parcel shelf. Works reasonably well on the outskirts of the city but doesn't last long on country roads. Also installed one in another car which does not work at all and then realised it can't receive through a film tinted window.

Thanks for sharing. Can you post any pictures of what you have installed and also a link on what you purchased?
When you say ditch FM altogether, are you saying that you pick up the radio stations via digital signal?

I tried a powered amplified version of one of these and found it to just not work... I've tried a number of options inside the car and think outside the car is the only decent way to get a decent signal...

I found that you can purchase antenna cable splitters. Has anyone tried fitting two antennas to the one radio? Would this help with getting a better signal?
