Title: Larry Shinodas Boss debut
Post by: mwizz on August 26, 2014, 08:45:46 pm
Here is a link to some pics of the debut of the restored Boss of Larry Shinoda. It was apparently shown at the Mustang Memories show in Dearborn last weekend.

The post on the registry is a good read too.
Love the old pic with him and his kids next to it, what a dad Larry was!

its a pretty important car in the context of who owned it and his input to the mustang , because as we know the name boss only came about because he was the BOSS ! and his car was a prototype and i am surprised that the stripping on the side is now different to what it was when he owned it BUT i am not 100% sure .

It's also the only 69 Boss with a shaker. Actually his name would make a good number plate for a Boss 'SHINODA'

Boss or mach 1,
that's the question. it originally  started out as a mach.

Yes he took a Mach 1 and made a concept Boss out of it.

thats right mark , he deleted the side scoops and i notice in some of the old pics that the shaker hood had a cobra jet logo on it as well but that could have been added by someone else .
see to me the car is historic because not only did shinoda own it but more so for what he did with it as the test case for the BOSS line and in partictular the stripping which at the time were prototype so the word boss wasnt in it yet but hey i am a greenhood and i am sure someone will explain why they put word boss in on the restoration

Interesting point, someone obviously spent a lot of money to get the resto right but changed the stripes to show the word Boss. I only just noticed that, good pick up.

Well going off the ViN, it would have to be a Mach1 as that was what it was built as, but as a prototype Boss, perhaps it would be called a Mach Boss, or Boss Mach. Somehow though, i think it will stand on its merits as Shinodas Boss as it is already known.  Great read in the Rare Finds book about it.
