Technical - General / Shocks
Last post by birol_67Coupe - June 22, 2024, 11:23:23 PM
Hi All,

Its time for new shocks and looking to see what others have done.
67 coupe.. it is lowered. I use it as a cruiser 80% of the time, but do like the idea of adjustable shocks to make it firmer for when drive it a little more aggressively (not race car style)

looking to see what other have done out there..

I'm looking at the QA1 shocks.. but don't know to much about them

Hey Tang67,

To my knowledge Numbers like C7OZ and C7AZ identify the car, and the part is 12A091, the letters after are the version?

Likely to be shot down!

Sorry, As for the colour, ask my wife, men don't know colours!

Cheers Phil.

Thanks AussiePhil and Gallop, appreciate your assistance. Looks like it'll be a bugger of a job to replace it when the need arises, so perhaps best to buy a spare now for that 'just in case' moment.

QUESTION: wonder if there is any difference between the two parts: C7OZ-12A091-A (67 289 Mustang) and C7AZ-12A091-C (67 428 Galaxie) - they look identical?

AussiePhil RE: 'that's a beautiful looking blue fastback!'

Thanks, but, PLEASE! That's NOT 'blue', it's CLEARWATER AQUA!

Years ago, when I was looking at buying a 67, saw it sitting on a website for months. So I rang the owner and asked why it hadn't sold - what's wrong with it. He got a lot of typical tyre kickers but all the blokes hated the colour, they wanted a red or black. Long story short, I test drove it and had it up on a hoist to check, etc. Handed the cheque over and brought it home. Most blokes don't like the colour, but it is certainly a chick magnet because the ladies love the colour - win/win I say, eh?!

Hi 6t9m1,

Thanks for replying. Tried adding a little extra but no effect, another forum suggested try a little less oil due to expansion of fluid (keep the fluid within range though). Going to tighten the band a little as suggested by Tony and see how that goes. Thanks for the callout Aussie-67.

Cheers

Hey tang67,
It appears to me that it does two jobs, supply heater water and vacuum advance.
You could fit a tee for the water and a standard vacuum thermo like, FORD Genuine emission control valve vacuum tree 3 port XC XD XE DY165A MOTORCRAFT D7AZ-12A091-A NOS 6 cylinder V8 ESP 302 351.

I tried to add a photo but failed.
Top outlet to Carburettor.
Middle to Distributor.
Bottom to intake manifold.
Google FORD Genuine emission control valve vacuum tree 3 port and you will see the construction of the valve.
Hope I've helped.
Cheers Phil.

P.S. that's a beautiful looking blue fastback!
Cheers Phil.

Hey tang67,
Ford smog vacuum port heater valve, C7OZ-12A091-A. Expensive!

Very interesting original part!
Forum members may have more information?

Tech Torque Pre 1973 / Part Name/Number/Replacement O...
Last post by Tang67 - June 20, 2024, 07:06:43 PM
Hello Brains Trust,

with reference to the attached photo, my California car with all the anti-pollution stuff, has this metal widget with four hoses attached - three are vacuum leads. (It's the vertical grey metal thing in the centre of the photo, left of the distributor and below the air cleaner.)

I'm guessing it's called a manifold vacuum tree, but not certain.

Has anyone got information on these - where to get an identical one, pitfalls in replacing them, etc? I've only seen ones with two or so hose connections, none with four.

Thanks for any assistance provided.

(Apologies - can't unflip the image, so 'UP' is to the left)  :ouch:

I would try adding 500ml to one extra litre of tranny fluid.

If that does not fix the problem tranny my need a rebuild.

Replacing O rings and friction discs.  :thumb:
