65 engine mount brackets
« on: April 19, 2021, 01:36:08 pm »
The headers on my 65 289, just touch the LHS shock tower. The engine mounts look original so guess this could be part of the problem. Has anyone had any success with gaining a bit more header room by changing the engine mounts and brackets to the 66 style? Before i put the engine back in just trying to decide if its worthwhile mod. Thanks..

Hey,
If the engine mounts are in good condition, elongate the mounting holes that join to the engine and adjust the engine away from where it is hitting the shock tower, you could easily get a few millimetres.  You should used hardened washers over the elongated holes!
You could also use shims and longer engine bolts to lift the engine if that helps!
Cheers Phil

If you've never buggered anything you've never done anything!
But if you've buggered a lot maybe you're not very good at it!

Two for one is good but four for two is better!
