Hey all,
Well it’s happened again, Speeding on Mt. Panorama.

It was one of our own this time, Orange Mustang!

I got a set of 1 inch lowered springs from the USA and it was fraught with problems: slow, expensive and US Customs even bent one - which took more expense and effort to get straightened.

So, I think a good and cheaper option is to find a suspension shop specialising in leaf springs and have a set made to your requirements - and you'll be able to keep the lower spring with all the part numbers (which keeps it original). It is rare to find off-the shelf springs that will match your exact height requirements so having a custom set is a good way to go.

General advice is to avoid lowering blocks.

Options are to either buy mid-eye or reverse-eye springs that will achieve lowering (but not an exact science as your existing springs may be sagged), or get a specialist to reset your existing springs (and maybe add a half or full leaf depending on their advice).

I did the latter on my 65FB about 10 years and got it done at Suspension City (used to be in North Melbourne but now in Pascoe Vale) - https://www.suspensioncity.com.au/.  Cost me about $440 back then, so would maybe be double now.

The benefit of the latter approach is they will get it sitting exactly how you want it, but with new springs its a bit of pot luck.

Tech Torque Pre 1973 / Re: 65 Fastback resto dash pad

I have a 65 fastback and recently re-installed the dash pad after the windscreen was unstalled. If you have all the wiring, heater box, guage cluster etc removed from under the dash, install the dash pad close to last.

You may wish to put the dash pad in the sun for a few minutes just before installation as this will soften it up.
