Riveted rear brake pads.
« on: March 18, 2021, 08:28:55 pm »
Hi all,
My 68 Mustang has a Ford Explorer 96 to 03? Drum/Disc set-up on a 9" Differential done in the US.
I have just replaced my park brake shoes and found my rear brake pads are riveted!
I'm not concerned at all about that but was interested!
They're not branded in anyway, but the pads orange!
Anyone got an idea!
Cheers Phil.

Hi again,
I've done some reading and it appears the brake pads may have a high percentage of copper content.
Copper increases the thermal conductivity and heat resistance, but not good for the environment.
Copper content is now limited to 5% till 2021 and 0.5% after 2025.
Cheers Phil.
