Does anyone know where to purchase the ZKW high beam headlights Tickford fitted to the Aussie mustangs in the front bumper. I had a rock through one of mine and can't seem to locate one anywhere. They are NLA at the Ford dealers.

One of our members on the Coast had the same problem. He got replacements from CJPony parts but they weren't cheap. He has now put some clear perspex in front of them for protection. Thanks for the reminder that I have not done that to mine yet.

Hi Phil,

Send me a pic of which one it is. I think your the person Jeff from here told me about. I replaced my lower spot light with the super bright LED ones. Have the original ones for them. Is that the ones you are after?
I bought a whole 2001 Cobra bumper with spot lights too. Let me know.
Steve

Giffo, Thanks for the reply. I am probably the guy Jeff told you about as I had contact with him on and off since I sold him some FE parts a year or two ago. The light I need is one of the high beam ones in the bumper that Tickford put in extra to the normal mustang headlights (Ford part number 53311 00000). Not the lower spot lights that all mustangs have. If you do indeed have one and are willing to sell it I would be very grateful. Attached is a picture of the light.

Stormin,
I would appreciate it if you could ask the guy what was the part number he ordered. I can't see the part on the CJ site anywhere.

From the looks of things, they're related to this light made by Hella in Germany. Not cheap...

Jiffy,
I checked the hella catalog and it looks like the mounts will be too far back on these to fit in the bumper. The mounts on the original ZKW ones are right at the front of the light as per the attached. I will keep looking. They must have been fitted to something else as well. No luck with the part number for the bracket either as it must have been a Tickford only part number.

Hi Phil
Got in touch with our member who has spent the last couple of hours looking for paperwork. Anyway, he tells me the lights he bought were actually the lower foglights which cost him around a $100 US a couple of years ago. Sorry I got your hopes up but if you find them I'm sure us Cobra owners would appreciate the info. Didn't a falcon a few years ago come out with small headlights. Maybe EA/EB ?

The problem is that the spotlight has to have a side light inside it.

There must be a 12v Halogen version of this that would work

In fact, other than this is a Xenon buld it has the mounting setup and the adjusting components too...

Finally tracked the lights down. they are ZKW System 100 lights. Not original equipment on anything by the looks of it. The 2017 versions look like the back is slightly different but it should work. May even twist off and the original back will fit. It says it includes the sidelight - Stadtlicht. The lenses have slightly different markings so probably better to change both to match.

Fernscheinwerfer ECE mit Stadtlicht (H1) 12V/55W
ZKW Nr.: 533.11.000.00

Now all I have to do is find someone to buy them from. Not as easy as it sounds as so far I have only found one supplier and haven't had a reply yet. ZKW themselves say minimum quantity order of 290 units.

If and when I locate a supplier I will post the details. In the meantime if anyone else finds one please let me know.

I finally managed to track down a supplier of the lights in Germany and have some on their way. Reasonably priced at around $100 each. I will repost when I receive them if there are any problems. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Hi Phil, great news - do you have the supplier's details?
What are you doing with the OEM one you have left?

Great to hear. Knowing how rare they are I could not part with my spare ones sorry. $100 is cheap though. Hope they fit well.

The lights arrived from Germany. They are exactly the same as the original ones except the letters around the edge of the lens are slightly larger and the vertical lines in the glass are slightly closer together. I will replace both of mine so they match but most people would not notice the difference as its very slight and the Tickford surround covers most of the lettering anyway.

The new lights come complete with back, globes and wiring exactly as per original.

Suppliers contact details as below. Price was 67 EUR each plus around 50 EUR for 2 week freight.

I can only conclude Tickford had a German engineer who setup the lights ands familiar with ZKW lights as why they used such an obscure ZKW light rather than something local.

Great to hear. What was the cost for items plus freight in Aussie dollars? Do you speak German?? :)

It depends on the exchange rate but at present 67 EUR is around $100 AUD. You have to pay them by bank transfer into their account. I suspect the company is actually a wholesaler but they were happy to sell to me. They spoke English and their website is in English and German. They were very professional to deal with. I would have no issues in recommending them.
