So a reasonable run from the battery in the old girl. Given she spent about 6 weeks in the snow between the factory and the dock, quite a good effort I guess.
A new battery is needed.
Anyone have any strong opinions as to whether or not I should Holla for a Marshall, dial 1300 NRMA, hit up Repco or SCA or the like? and why that option?

They are pretty good, but cost around double the price of a standard lead acid battery. They don't like the maintenance battery chargers either, but if its a daily driver, that won't matter much.

My normal batteries i get 7-8 years out off them usually a delkor or ac delco, but the best i have had was a Yuasa battery normally standard in Toyota land cruisers it lasted for 10 years.

I had a Yuasa in my work truck. It was good for pretty close to 10yo when it died.

They are pretty good, but cost around double the price of a standard lead acid battery. They don't like the maintenance battery chargers either, but if its a daily driver, that won't matter much.
That's a point. This is no longer a Daily Drive. It's a every other month kinda thing now.
Dry cells don't like chargers?

Yuasa battery
Batery world offered me a Yuasa for about $240. Lead Acid. I might have to revisit that. Thanks.

I had an old Autolite battery that had lost a cell emptied and a new smaller battery fitted inside as you see in the pic. The top was glued back on and it is now like a new Autolite.

Supercharge Gold. 3 year warranty and I've not had one fail on me yet (oldest one I have is around 5 years).
Normal lead acid construction so no hassles with trickle chargers, etc. and don't cost a bomb.

Just returned from month long trip o/s and after 5 weeks of no touch the battery on my 2017 GT is dead.
Couldn't charge it in the car - my C-Tek charger couldn't get a good grip on the terminals - so had to take it out of the car. Charging now, but we'll see how it goes.
FYI on the Yuasa recommendation - for a 2015+ the battery code is DIN53L MF. They are available from Battery World, and at my local one is only $175. I'll get one if the OEM one doesn't play ball.

Just returned from month long trip o/s and after 5 weeks of no touch the battery on my 2017 GT is dead.
Couldn't charge it in the car - my C-Tek charger couldn't get a good grip on the terminals - so had to take it out of the car. Charging now, but we'll see how it goes.

P.S. Battery World canned the Yuasa when I rang them - said they are now made in China and are rubbish, so they don't stock them. She then went on to try and sell me a Varta for about $300.
I decided to give the OEM one a try again, and eventually got it going after charging it twice out of the car. It has been fine ever since.
However, when I was at the Ford dealership for a service I asked them about a replacement expecting a high price. But to my surprise they quoted $219 for a replacement with at least 590CCA - and told me that Ford Aus has just gone to using Century.

Ford Australia will be using whatever they can get the cheapest deal on unfortunately. Their switch will have nothing to do with quality. :ouch: :ouch: :ouch: :ouch: :ouch:
