I'm interested in buying a 2008 to a 2011 mustang here in Australia but they all seem to be quite expensive, the V8's seem to be well over a $100k and a V6's seem pretty expensive. (Although I did come across a 2005 V6 for about $60k). I've checked out a lot of websites but all seem to expensive.
So I thought with a high AU$ I could get a brand new Mustang from the US. A base model V6 Premium is USD$26,995 or the GT Premium is USD$33,695. (from US Ford dealers) I understand the conversion to RHD is the killer – say $30,000 AUD + taxes, freight and other costs.
Could this work out cheaper? or am I missing something?

you may like to get a price on the conversion, believe you may be under the actual price alittle, well maybe a fair chunk
-
and remember that gst is worked on price + shipping so your looking at 33k + shipping turning into 45k at a min then conversion 40+ so yeah may work out cheaper to import but how much is the wait worth to you, wait shipping, wait for the conversion.......maybe be driving it in 12 months time

Wanapony. I'm with you and have been looking at this lately. If your purchase and freight brings you in under luxury car tax prices then its just the conversion and rego/stamp duties to pay. A fairly new car can;t be that expensive.

Do you have someone to do the conversion? - last time I looked at this, I could not find anyone willing to do it for me - but they all offered to sell me cars they had already converted

Check out this thread as well.

Your pricing seems a little shy of actual on the conversion ... IF you can get it done
Be cautious.
