Well I should not say I told you so - but I did back in March 09.
(Few skeptics around then though).

US Government has so debased/diluted its currency that a collapse in USD international value was inevitable.
An increase in official interest rates here, when others don't raise theirs, will always boost the AUD/usd rate as well.
Have a look at the "USD index" and you can see how the USD been trashed.

I would agree that we can expect to see around 1 to 1 AUD/USD rate. This will be due to further weakness in USD in global currency markets and further small increases in official interest rates here. Whilst the US Govt continues with it's irresponsible spending, debt , currency dilution and interest rate policies the USD will remain in the doldrums and will be a sell.
There are plenty of cars advertised for sale in the US and the economy is still in the trash can. The smart ones held off buying until a much better exchange rate was available to them.

I find it hard to believe Kochie.. He said that 12 mths ago. He said it would be 1 for 1 by Jan of this year.. Maybe he has now put the kiss of death on it as he did last year!!
Wait and see

sucks when i brought my car it was 67c

-
Yep it is certainly a positive.
Just need to remember that there are different rates depending on how you are purchasing. All in all still better than earlier in the year. :(
Bank Buys Bank Buys Bank Buys
Country Currency Abbr TT Cheques/ Travel Card Notes
USA DOLLAR USD 0.9231 0.9281 0.9397
Bank Sells Bank Sells Bank Sells
Country Currency Abbr TT Cheques/ Travel Card Notes
USA DOLLAR USD 0.8913 0.882 0.8797
-
Sorry it didn't show up how it was supposed to.
Supposed to basically show
bank buys TT (transfers) at .9231 Cheques at .9281 and Notes at .9397.
Then sells TT at .8913 Cheques at .882 and notes at .8797.
And when you are buying something in the US it is the sell line that you get.
-
i did a transfer tongiht and got .901

All I got on holiday in Hawaii in '03 was a paltry 48 cents.
That Sucks.

Well guys, with the dollar the way it is, I am letting you all know I will be at Pomona Swap Meet on Sunday, so if anyone is looking for stuff now is the time to ask.
Also have found many decent cars, so let me know what to look for. there are also some POS, so be careful when dealing on Ebay. Good stuff is not "cheap" here as they know what it is worth, but prices are down a little.
I have a container (maybe 2) leaving for Syd in December so can find space in that if required.
Contact details in my bio.

Yes but wait to see what they charged you for the transfer & how much ended up in the US account you sent it to. Big difference, probably worked out you got maybe .85 if you are lucky.
PayPal may be different, but they still have charges. Oh well the banks need the money :w
-
got 22 aus charge my end,
45us matts end
-
92c !
-
I just did a PayPal transaction and got 0.89
Cheers,
Frank.
-
92.1 is the "mid" rate not the "buy" or "sell" rate, that's one of the reasons you received less for the "buy" price, the other may be a little slice of commission on the way through.;]
Cheers Bee
-
still a good rate but......
