Title: Right angle Speedo cable for T5
Post by: 1965 fastback on July 04, 2023, 03:26:51 am
I have an Australian T5 in my LHD 65 Mustang. The speedo outlet come out on the right side but has to cross the gearbox to get to the instrument cluster. I have just broken one after 500 miles of use because of the sharp turn of the cable coming out of the box.

Has anyone used a right angle connection in the cable to avoid the sharp turn coming out of the box?

If so, can someone recommend a product?

There are two cables available. The shorter one is for autos and connects to the trans on the (LHD) driver's side. The longer one if for a top loader and connects on the passenger side.

My American T5 has the connection on the driver's side and I used the same shorter cable that was on the C4 the car had when I got it.

Maybe you have the shorter cable and the longer one will solve your problem?

Thanks Geoff.

I actually got my speedo cable made up from a guy in Ringwood. I can get it any length. He said it wouldn’t last if there were too many tight turns (which turned out to be the case).

A right angle connector at the box I think is the only way to limit the tight curve. I’m just trying to work out where to get one.

I can always get a longer cable next time but the first right curve between gearbox and floor hump is the problem.
