Autolite Distributor Identification-Help
« on: August 24, 2021, 12:33:39 pm »
Hi all need some help re identification of this distributor. First thing is that the details on the upper side of the distributor show the number C7OF-12127-B with a build date of 7A 10. The neck of the distributor shows the Identification as C7OF-12131-A. Why the two different Identification Numbers on the distributor and which one do I refer to when trying to determine just exactly what I have.

Also the Distributor has dual points. Is this correct or has someone added a dual point base plate? I thought all dual point distributors didn't have a vacuum advance option but this one does.

Can you assist.

Cheers

the 12131A number will be the casting number of the generic part, whereas the stamped 12127B part number shows the specific use and specification of the parts installed.

Dual points plate was added it appears, most of the early dual points distributors didn't have vacuum advance, but they were made with a vacuum advance later into the late '60's/early '70's
