Thanks for the concern shown by all you guys. Briar and myself both appreciate it. We are both ok. Big thanks also goes to all the guys who stopped and helped put out the fire we started. My injury amounted to a torn leg muscle and I am now branded thanks to a burning stick getting knocked onto my leg. I am here to tell you its heaps of fun trying to control a wheel less caravan at around the legal speed limit. Its even more fun dealing with an insurance company. I still don't know where I stand there. Noone in Narrabri wanted to quote and fix the van. Damage amounts to wrecked wheel and brake assembly and axle plus a bit on the wheelarch cover. The van had to be shipped to Dubbo and I am waiting to see what is going to happen.

Jack

Jack & Briar
Glad to hear that you are both OK it could of been so much worse had you of not been able to control the vehicle and caravan, its a shame about your holiday but its better to be home safe and well and in one piece.  Will catch up soon, take care of that burn
Sally & Chris

Re: Time for an update 2 Door Fairlane hits the Road

Great to have you back safely Jack and Briar.

Yesterday we fired up the recond engine in the Fairlane. Ron, Brad and Jeremy spent the afternoon running in the cam then tuning it. It is running sweet! -

This engine was fully reconditioned by Ron. Here he is with a very wide smile -

Brad and Jeremy took it for an inaugural cruise after checking the new brakes -

They both returned with big smiles and said it is very comfortable and smooth.

Next is a Wheel Alignment followed by some fine tuning, then off to the rego gods.

Rocket.

Looks sensational Rocket, I absolutely love the '66/'67 Fairlanes. Not sure if my garage is big enough to park one alongside the '68 coupe though.  :smile01:

The Fairlane has come up a treat, plenty of room around the donk in that engine bay!

Thanks Mattstang. Plenty of room everywhere in the Fairlane. We love it! :burnout:

We owe a very big Thankyou to Kym T ( Boss351 ). This was Kym`s car. He and Jeremy did a deal on this car in return for doing the resto on Kym`s 64.5 Mustang. :thumb:

Hi 66 Stang, Thanks. Yes.. i have noticed a few fairlanes getting around lately.

What about this one... it has the steering wheel on the right side -

It is a ZB Fairlane which is very original. We have had it sitting in the workshop for about 5 years and it was in my brother in laws workshop for about 3 years before that. When we can finally get around to doing a bare metal respray on the car it will be used by our oldest son who also has five children. Just the right size for them :smile01:

« Reply #1110 on: December 16, 2013, 07:43:22 pm »
Kym`s car is currently being reassembled- slowly but surely.

The engine and transmission were installed late last week and the car is now up on the hoist to finish connecting various items -

When Brad uploaded some photos of the freshly painted engine on our facebook page there was a cry of " You have painted the valve covers the wrong colour! They should be gold - not blue. " Ha Ha! Wrong!!!

The optional base 260 2V V8 164 hp engine in Kym`s 64.5  Coupe did indeed have light blue valve covers and air cleaner.
Check out the following link for all the correct info
 http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/mump_0308_select_correct_vintage_mustang_engine_paint/

Kym has done his homework. It is a delight to see this car being reassembled to Kym`s exacting standards. We are all learning a lot from him. This car will be seen at many concours events and I think kym will be adding to his Silverware collection.

Re: Time for an update - John Alexo`s 65 Coupe
« Reply #1111 on: December 16, 2013, 09:45:31 pm »
John Alexo`s Mustang dream had turned sour. When John and his young son drove in with their 65 coupe on a car trailer I stood back and observed the meeting between John, Brad and Jeremy. John explained how he had been let down over the last year or so by two separate panel beaters who had promised to fix the car but then just let the car sit after attempting some rust repairs in a half ar@ed manner and then just blew primer over the rough repairs.

The look of despair on John`s face softened throughout the discussion as he came to realise that maybe he had come to right place and we could help him and his son turn their dream into reality. These are the sort of people we try to help. We worked out a plan of action.

First job was to have the engine bay and undercarriage blasted to uncover any rust problems. The blasting revealed that both front floor pans required replacement as well as the taillight panel at the back of the car - so nothing major -

Blutey repaired the rusted areas before removing the primer from the body and repairing any rough areas.

Fast forward to today and after about five weeks hard work, Luke painted the car in the clients choice of Vintage Burgundy -

Hope you like it John and Son.

Rocket.

Thankyou all for your kind words, I will pass them on to the factory boys. :thumb:

We agree that Vintage Burgundy is an excellent colour, in fact we are about to finish  the resto on our 67 Vintage Burgundy coupe. The car has been sold and the new owner is keen to get behind the wheel asap.

John`s coupe is to get the parchment pony interior and I believe the 67 will get similar trim. I believe the 67 owner was inspired by the colour combo and trim in Mark`s ( mwizz) Vert.

66 Stang, unfortunately I was not able to get photos of John`s car as it was being repaired - we were just too busy in our other work.

As far as coming to Sydney        :burnout:  The best part of Sydney is the road out of Sydney. :smile01: You should relocate to Adelaide! LOL!
