Hi Guys, Time for an update -
Kym`s 64.5 Coupe resto is really coming along nicely. Luke and Blutey have been busy. After removing most of the paint from the body, about the only bit of rust found was at the bottom front of the right hand quarter panel. Blutey cut that out then fitted a patch -
Luke was removing the paint from the hang on panels.... inside and out -
Next they stripped and primed the engine bay and undercarriage -
Kym has been consulting with Luke and Blutey every step of the way on this Concourse resto to ensure that the car looks as close as possible to "as it left the factory ". Kym`s knowledge about this is incredible as is his attention to all the finer details. Things like the correct finished appearance of the body sealer at the back of the engine bay -
Leaving just enough of the old deadener on the inner guards -
Documenting and photographing the original factory markings so that they can be redone over the fresh paint -
NOT removing too much of the original finish in the boot area - Just sanding and feathering the non factory rough areas
He even gave Luke a list of the correct areas and components to use satin black and gloss black. It is a joy to experience his knowledge.
The body is in primer now and has been blocked back ready for the new top coats -
Tomorrow the undercarriage and engine bay will be painted, then next week the body and hang on panels. Check out how original these primered doors are -
A few interior shots -
The car is an absolutely original beauty.
Next Post, the LHD Fairlane.
