Mark ( mwizz ), A chap you know by the name of Neil rang yesterday and we had a bit of a chat about him intending to purchase a Mustang Coupe. He later called in and spoke with Brad and they were looking at the new arrival 66 Coupe.
It did not occur to me at the time, but Jeremy has a rotisserie restored 67 Coupe at home. Still a work in progress. It now has all the glass back in it. He has been working on it in his spare time - not that he gets any spare time, but it would come in under Neil`s budget. Bloody good car from North Hollywood - C code 289 V8 Auto

Would have to ask Jeremy if he wants to sell it. At a pinch we could have it complete and registered in about 5-6 weeks.

Hi Rod, Neil contacted me about purchasing a Mustang and I thought it would be good if he visited your shop to have a look at the 66 coupe and have a general discussion. He is tossing up on whether to import or buy here. I recommended to have a look around here first to see what is available. We should be catching up in the near future so I will tell him about the 67.

Also - tell Ron that I will drop the fuel pump (now fixed) and bring the holley back (he wants to try something with it) in next couple of days. I called past to drop it off last Saturday morning but the workshop appeared to be closed.

Thanks Mark.

I will let Ron know the fuel pump and carb are on the way.

The workshop will be closed on Saturdays until Jeremy returns in mid November. If you can`t come down before the 3.30 closing time through the week, just call into my office and if I am not there leave them with Greg in the front office.

Worked out well today Mark. I see the boys were working back a bit late when you called in.

Brad and Neil went to Jeremy`s place to look at the Burgundy 67 Coupe after work.

Sorry guys, no photos today. We were too busy in the shop.

 Not quite Sally. Maddison needed to call in and brought Sam with her. He never misses an opportunity to check out the Mustangs. First question was " where is the bumblebee car"
His eyes always light up when he sees that car. Bit worried he might turn to the dark side and become a Camaro driver when he grows up.

Hi Kym, Yes... Blutey is really showing off his skills. All the boys regard it as a very special car and will treat it accordingly :thumb:

Hi Guys, Time for an update -

Kym`s 64.5 Coupe resto is really coming along nicely. Luke and Blutey have been busy. After removing most of the paint from the body, about the only bit of rust found was at the bottom front of the right hand quarter panel. Blutey cut that out then fitted a patch -

Luke was removing the paint from the hang on panels.... inside and out -

Next they stripped and primed the engine bay and undercarriage -

Kym has been consulting with Luke and Blutey every step of the way on this Concourse resto to ensure that the car looks as close as possible to "as it left the factory ". Kym`s knowledge about this is incredible as is his attention to all the finer details. Things like the correct finished appearance of the body sealer at the back of the engine bay -

Leaving just enough of the old deadener on the inner guards -

Documenting and photographing the original factory markings so that they can be redone over the fresh paint -

NOT removing too much of the original finish in the boot area - Just sanding and feathering the non factory rough areas

He even gave Luke a list of the correct areas and components to use satin black and gloss black. It is a joy to experience his knowledge.

The body is in primer now and has been blocked back ready for the new top coats -

Tomorrow the undercarriage and engine bay will be painted, then next week the body and hang on panels. Check out how original these primered doors are -

A few interior shots -

The car is an absolutely original beauty.

Next Post, the LHD Fairlane.

Thanks Mark.

The Fairlane is almost ready to be started Brad has been working hard to get it finished. Last week he fitted the reconditioned 351. The car went to Dave Bill`s exhaust workshop ( Exhaust Plus at Salisbury ) on Monday to have a new exhaust fitted -

Then it came back to our workshop. Brad found the old 289 Pulley setup would not work on the 351 so he and Jeremy set about modifying the power steering and alternator brackets to make the pulleys line up -

Excellent job Brad, looks factory to me. :thumb:

The Radiator has just arrived back after being recored so the car should be fired up early next week.

Hi Dale, Michael, Sally/Chris, Things were chaotic here while Jeremy was away. I could not leave the front office long enough to get photos.

In fact I am no longer at work on Fridays, but just received some notifications from our Facebook page with photos of progress -

Brad still needed a spacer for the Fairlane Pulleys, so instead of trying to find one somewhere he just made one on the lathe -

Good one Brad, problem solved.

The engine bay and undercarriage on Kym`s car have been painted

Luke wheeled Kym`s car into the spray booth this morning and spent the next couple of hours taping it up, then sprayed the top coats this arvo -

Here is Kym giving the paint close inspection -

When he gave it the thumbs up, Blutey and Luke were thrilled -

Kym had some specific requirements with the paint job. He wants the car to look just like it did when it left the Ford Factory all those years ago, which required some orange peel in the paint. This was achieved by spraying at a slightly lower air pressure at the spray gun along with a slightly thicker paint mix. You can see the effect in these photos -

It was also important to apply just the correct amount of overspray -

Not a lot of orange peel - just enough. Luke will give the fresh paint only a light de nibbing before compounding with the machine polisher in order to keep the look.

Tomorrow he will paint the hang on panels.

Jack and Briar stuck at Narrabri They set off on a trip to Queensland last Friday. Lost a wheel off the caravan near Narrabri and the way I heard it the red hot wheel bearing set fire to the scrub. Jack was injured while putting the fire out.
Jack and Briar, everybody sends their regards and best wishes. If you need a hand with anything just let us know.

Bit of bad luck.

Must be a bit of an insight working with Kym and his knowledge.
The paint looks great.

sorry to hear about Jack and Briar, hope he is not too badly hurt
Losing a wheel of a caravan must of been pretty scary along with starting a fire, i hope the rest of their trip will be uneventful.

Just spoke with Ron who is in contact with Jack. Ron received a text message from Jack this morning stating they are on their way back home. So much for their holiday. Bugger!

Apparently he was not injured badly, just pulled some muscles. He said they were muscles he has not used in years. Guess it would be a panic situation.

Michael, yes... it is very enlightening working with Kym.

Thanks for the concern shown by all you guys. Briar and myself both appreciate it. We are both ok. Big thanks also goes to all the guys who stopped and helped put out the fire we started. My injury amounted to a torn leg muscle and I am now branded thanks to a burning stick getting knocked onto my leg. Moral. Don't fight bushfires in shorts. I am here to tell you its heaps of fun trying to control a one wheel caravan at around the legal speed limit. Its even more fun dealing with an insurance company. I still don't know where I stand there. Noone in Narrabri wanted to quote and fix the van. Damage amounts to wrecked wheel and brake assembly and axle plus a bit on the wheelarch cover. The van had to be shipped to Dubbo and I am waiting to see what is going to happen.
