I snuck over for a quick look yesterday morning before work, things were real busy. Cars are looking great. Need to arrange a time for my baby to visit you for some TLC  :thumb:

Hi Dale, we love the framed photo of your car that you gave to Jeremy this week. Fantastic shot! :thumb:

You are welcome anytime Dale.

I am assuming the TLC relates to the black paint? Time for a buff?

Re: Time for an update - Millicent and Bay to Birdwood
« Reply #1052 on: September 25, 2013, 10:40:23 pm »
Enjoyed a nice cruise down to Millicent today in the Diesel Turbo Territory. Excellent car! Only used half a tank of fuel too.

We are here to do some more work on the Bathroom Reno. Happy to report that we now have an operational shower again - or at least we will have when the Plumber fits the taps in the morning. coupla pics -

Now to finish off the other end - and fit a door

Brad and Fiona are taking the Grande in the Bay to Birdwood on Sunday. The car needs a good cruise - it does not see daylight very often.
Received a message from Adrian (69 Candy) last night to say that he and his wife are driving from Naracoorte for the Bay to Birdwood. I have been wanting to check out his stunning Candyapple Red Mach1 Cobra Jet for a long time, but we just cannot cross paths. Brad, how about chasing Adrian up and check it out for me? Rego plates are " WASJUNK". Adrian is a heck of a good bloke as well.
How many others are going along this year?

Time for a bit of an update... again!

Had a pleasant surprise upon walking into the workshop on Saturday. Those who follow the Thread will remember the drunk driver crashing into Ben and Biancas car at the Nationals - this car - Note the numberplate - SHOPONY

We repaired the car for Ben and Bianca and all is good.

Imagine my surprise on Saturday when I saw this car up on the hoist - note the numberplate -

Took a moment to realise it is SNOPONY, not SHOPONY :smile01:

Turns out Ben and his Dad have been restoring this car for the last year or so. They have done an excellent job including the undercarriage with all the correct markings. More photos -

Ben, Congratulations!  The car looks excellent. Ben and his Dad are taking the car to the Roundup in Melbourne this weekend and will enter the car in the Show and Shine. Hope you Melbourne guys check it out.

We have been working on the 67 Fairlane 2 Door Started out with a check of the undercarriage and we found a rusty front passenger floor. Blutey welded a new section in while the boys took the rest of the undercarriage back to bare metal -

They then decided to do the engine bay as well -

Ended up going the whole hog and removed all the old suspension and steering so that it can be renewed. The Classic, Classic car Snowball.

Not going fancy with the undercarriage, just etch primer, surface primer then satin black.

Next post Kym T`s 64.5 Coupe resto begins.

Another Restoration begins This 64.5 Coupe has been owned by The Pres - Kym T for about 20 years.

We are all in awe of this car. It is without a doubt the most original, preserved and well maintained Mustang that we have had the pleasure of restoring -

That is the original floor insulation in the above photos. Only problem we could see was some possible water staining from the heater visible in the photo above. Blutey began pulling the car apart and commented that all the screws, nus and bolts were so easy to undo after being in place for almost fifty years! Normally he would have to use a cutting disc to remove some nuts and bolts. Not on this car! We have looked everywhere for rust but we cannot find any.

The paint is beginning to show its age and there are a few minor dings in the bonnet from stones hitting it. We will carefully strip it back to bare metal and give it a nice fresh coat of paint. The drivetrain will be removed in order to paint the engine bay while Brad F weaves his magic in painting the engine, transmission and diff.

This is going to be a fun restoration.

In other news Jeremy is off to the USA for four weeks in the morning. He will stay with Matt and Sheri in Florida for a couple of weeks before his wife Monique joins up with them and they will then head to Las Vegas for SEMA.

We finally have our Website just about ready. I will put up a Link when it goes live.

In other news

the package has landed with no signs of damage during shipping rocket.

A few beam & cokes last night however has made the package almost unnoticeable this morning.

I will immerse the package in coffee this morning and see if its original structure returns as its laying on the spare bed and has somehow seemed to unwrap its self over night from its original packaging and is making strange noises

I hope I didn't break it as I don't think they accept returns

Matt

Work continues on Kym T`s car

Blutey has reworked the corners of the car to ensure a good fit for the extensions -

He has finished working the bonnet -

He had a difficult time removing the paint off the roof. Started with paint stripper which removed the top coat, but would not touch the primer coats -

At this point most panel beaters would simply fit a 36 grit disc to a grinder and remove that primer in about 5 minutes, problem with that is it leaves deep scratches in the metal - not good for a concours resto. Blutey used 60 grit paper on an orbital sander -

Check out how clean these screen flanges are -

So clean with no rust. This really excites panel beaters.

67 Fairlane coming along nicely

The undercarriage has been repaired and painted along with the engine bay -

Brad cleaned up the suspension and steering components in the sand blasting cabinet then gave them a coat of paint. He is currently putting the front end together -

He is also fitting a new disc brake kit which I believe Kym purchased from Dan and Carol at Chockostang during a trip to the USA -

Here is a tip about brakes for anybody needing components for a conversion or just original parts - Carol and Dan at Chockostang know everything there is to know about Mustang Brakes and their prices are very reasonable.

Check out this Dolly that Angelo made to move his Grande around during his restoration -

Angelo gave it to us and the factory boys modified it to be adjustable and even put a Mustang motif on it. Good work guys.

Just found out our new Website has gone Live Please check it out -

http://www.imageclassiccars.com.au/

It is a Joomla based site, a content management system,  the idea being that yours truly can add content as work progresses. Not a lot on there as yet so guess who is going to be busy.

your site looks good rocket,... would be better if I could read the whole page though, when looking at the cars for sale and spare parts pages in particular, am unable to see print from where the bitumen ends and the sky begins ..

A quick tip - Leave your boogie board at home

Hi Pinto Pete, Yes... That is a valid point. I had the same thought upon seeing it for the first time. We gave our IT people a brief only about 2 weeks ago to develop the site with the proviso the Website had to be on line before Glen Everitts new TV Show goes to air. They probably used a Template for the site so I do not know if the background can be altered. We will run with it as is for the moment then as I become familiar with Joomla we may change it.

Hi Dale - Thanks mate! :thumb:

Congratulations to Ben and his Dad Saw the following photo of Snopony amongst the photos from the Roundup that Vellin put up on the Forum last night -

Having seen the car last week for the first time I thought they had done an excellent restoration on the car over the last year or so.. Good news! It has paid off.
Ben and his Dad won a Silver Award at the Roundup yesterday.

Well done guys! :thumb:

More Progress -

Luke is back from his long weekend in Melbourne. While Blutey works the front guard on Kym`s Mustang, Luke is removing paint from the car - a very labor intensive job -

Brad has fitted the brakes, master cylinder, booster and lines to the 67 Fairlane -

He is now preparing a recond 351 for fitting to the car. Out with the old and in with the new -

Ron has been busy working on Mark`s Boss. It is looking good-

don't mean to be picky rocket but shouldn't the booster be tucked in behind the tower or have you repositioned it.....

Did a quick search on google and it seems he is correct -
