Hi Jack, Hope you are enjoying your temporary freedom.  :hi:
Sounds like Briar is having a ball in Africa. :thumb:

I will make you a copy of the Nationals results tomorrow and leave them on my desk with your name on them, but i will not be there - so just grab them. Michelle and i are headed down the South East to do some more work on the bathroom.

But do call in on friday - the boys will be happy to see you.

It has been a busy week. Ron and Brad pulled the 390 engine out of the Acapulco Blue Mach, stripped it then sent it out for machining. Turned out the rings were shot. Blutey and Brad are working on the undercarriage of the yellow Mach. Luke is spraying the top coats on the 68 Vert in the morning. They are painting it a slightly lighter red, similar to Monza Red.

Will try to get some photos in the morning.

Luke painted the 68 Vert today -

The undercarriage and engine bay have already been painted, next week he will paint the boot lid, bonnet, guards and all the little hang on bits, then reassembly can begin.

Work continues to the undercarriage of the Yellow Mach 1.

The diff, springs and tailshaft were removed to tidy them up and make it easier to clean the undercarriage -

Brad is fitting new front uni joints -

While Blutey is repairing the front floor pan. Here he is using a special magnet to hold a patch in place while he welds it with the mig -

Guess he does not feel the need to wear gloves! Ouch!  :smile01:

We had a nice treat this morning. Kym called in to show us an F-100 Pickup -1950 model. Check it out -

What about the wheels, they are massively wide -

Nice big V8 as well -

Luke painted the undercarriage of the Yellow mach 1 today, looks a lot cleaner now -

The owner has deided to have inside the boot area painted so Luke is getting stuck into that now.

On the grapevine.... I hear there is a very nice late model Stang coming to live in SA next week. Hope Kym brings it around after he picks it up next week so i can get some photos :burnout: :bolt:

Hi Pinto Pete, What have you got? Paddock Basher or Fixer Upper?

The boys have been busy this last week. The Diff and Leaf Springs  from the Yellow Mach 1 were painted, then Brad reinstalled them along with a new pair of Shock Absorbers after we sourced some new U Bolts and mounting Plates -

Here are Brad and Jeremy discussing the finer points -

Meanwhile Ron, Brad and Blutey refitted the suspension ,brakes, steering and began reassembly in the engine bay on the 68 Vert while Luke gave it a wetrub ready for buffing -

The rear of the Yellow Mach 1 is just about finished, then we will take it off the hoist and remove the engine and transmission for some repairs and clean up the engine bay at the same time.

Still waiting for the 390 engine block of the Acapulco Blue Mach 1 to come back from being machined, then Ron can get stuck into the rebuild. It is a bit like musical cars at the moment, going from car to car all the time, but will all come together soon.

Re: Time for an update - What would you do with this 428 Block?
« Reply #961 on: May 07, 2013, 12:35:22 pm »
What are you waiting for Pinto Pete? Hook in - those pickups are cool.

Ron and Brad took the 428 engine out of the yellow Mach 1 yesterday.

Last week when Ron loosened off the sump plug to do an oil change, we were mystified when about a litre of --clean water ( coolant ) drained out of the sump, followed by the oil. EDIT - It was coolant that came out of the sump - not clear water.

Today he took the valley cover and heads off the engine - this is what he found -

Also a couple of rusty pushrods -

The bores themselves look pretty good -

Ron spoke with the chap from the machine shop who suggested the block is stuffed so throw it away. He explained that an old timer welder would possibly have the skills to weld the cracks properly, but none of those blokes are around nowadays.

Jack is also of the opinion the block is stuffed due to the complexities of getting the block hot enough to create a good weld.

I think they are both correct. The owner of the car is calling in shortly to see the bad news for himself. Might be a good idea to fit a crate engine and have done with it, although this is an expense i am sure he was not expecting. Bugger!

The engine bay on the car is not too bad. Just need to repair the towers where a gas axe was used to blow holes for a grease gun -

Followed by a clean and paint.

Here is photo of the car -

Where's the clean water from the sump coming from, Rocket? Looks like it had pretty green coolant in it Was this a shaker car?

Yes guys... You are correct, but that list will never get any shorter. As you get one job completed another two will be added. Best to lower their expectations by going to the pub everyday
     :bolt:

By the way Ash, The water that drained out of the sump was actually coolant ( just had a look at the pictures Jeremy took on his phone at the time ). Where the welding was done on the block coolant was definitely leaking.

Ah, ok. Thanks for that. I thought you meant clear tap/rain water and was curious how that got in there too.

Thanks guys, Jack i will check out that site.

John - The owner of the yellow Mach 1 called in to have a look at his cactus engine. Here he is with Jeremy -

Think i would be scratching my head too! John said he was not really surprised. He knew there was something wrong in there so we just confirmed his fears.

Jeremy spoke with Jiffy this arvo and is now equipped with the knowledge that another engine is going to be more than a little bit more expensive than a windsor 302/351. Ouch!! :thud:

We had another treat today The Pres - Kym T called in with his newly acquired Mustang. The car quickly drew a crowd over to check it out. It is absolutely superb.
Here is a teaser pic -

I have been fighting with Photofarket all afternoon trying to upload the photos of the car, but lost the fight temporarily. It seems they were doing maintenance. Give me an hour or so and i will be back with plenty of Photos.

Congratulations on a great buy Kym.

Re: Time for an update Kym T`s 2008 Mustang GT Premium
« Reply #970 on: May 07, 2013, 08:50:47 pm »
Kym has just driven his new car from Melbourne to Adelaide and is thrilled to bits with the car.

It is a 2008 Mustang GT Premium with a 4.6 Litre V8 and 5 speed manual gearbox. It drew quite a crowd when he pulled up. Here are some photos -

More photos at this Link - http://s244.photobucket.com/user/rocket67/slideshow/

Kym bought the car from Craig Dean at Mustang Motorsport. Story goes that Craig imported some hand picked late model Mustangs from the USA, converted them to right hand drive then put them up for sale, the idea being that they could be offered for sale at much lower prices than the new Mustangs which Mustang Motorsport sell. Great idea in my opinion. There must be a whole lot more potential late model Mustang buyers if a car is offered for sale at under 80k.

Kym`s car is absolutely pristine, with only 63k on the odometer.

Well done Craig Dean and Mustang Motorsport. :thumb:

This car has got us thinking... Would be very nice driving one of these around. :smile01:

Congratulations Kym, That is one helluva gorgeous car.
