Hi Mark, Judging day is here. Can hear people beginning to stir in the rooms around us. Early breakfast then at 7.30 the concourse cars will head down to NU-Ford at Wangara.

Have the camera ready to go and take some pics down in the car park as they leave.

Lots of later models there ........

Its a trend that has been noted in the US. At most of the American shows the classic Mustangs are easily outnumbered by the '05 and later Mustangs.

Same thing noticed at the all Ford Day in SA. A lot of new Fords and less classic ones.

Re: Time for an update - A Big Thank You to Denton ( booah)
« Reply #855 on: March 30, 2013, 06:15:00 pm »
When it rains it Pours :thud:

When all the Mustangs left for Judging this morning all was sweet.

Half way to Nu-Ford, Ron`s Mach 1 just died. He was stuck on the side of the road without tools. Ron did some troubleshooting and found there was spark at the points - but no spark to the spark plugs. He figured it was probably the new coil. We did not have one handy so he rang Denton (booah) to see if he may have one.

It happened that Denton was on his way out, but he dropped that, took the coil off his own Mustang, loaded that and his tools and came straight down to where Ron was stuck. Found it was not the coil, but somehow there was not much power going to the coil. Denton fabricated a temporary lead from the battery to the coil and had the car running again. Ron then proceeded to the Judging.

Denton, we cannot thank you enough for your very generous assistance

Thank you big time.

Some photos from the Judging -

Here is Q . For those who do not know the story of Q - Kerry restored this car for Lee ( Foresight ) and has done a magnificent job of it. The car is a Stunner :thumb:

There are some more cars not shown here. I found it hard to get photos of the others due to shadowing, bad light, people around them etc. I will complete the list at the show tomorrow.

After a long day at the Judging, I can hear the cars rolling into the car park now. They left at 7.30 and are returning at 3.30. That is a long day for a lot of people.

Hi Michael and Mark, Thanks. There is no shortage of willing helpers here. :thumb:

Today is the big day! It is just on 7AM here and I can hear lots of Mustangs being fired up as they all make their way over to the oval for the big display. We were informed last night there should be about 300 Mustangs on display.

Fine weather forecast today with a max temp of 29 degrees.

Should make for a great day.

Michael, the Nationals are being held in Geelong next year so gives you 12months to plan for them. How about you and the other Members come along. It really is a fantastic annual event. :thumb: :smile01:

The Nationals Display Day is in full swing at the moment.

There is quite a large crowd so it is not easy to take good photos at the moment. Here are a few I managed before the crowd arrived -

Brad and Fi had a chat with Rosco McGlashan, owner of the Aussie Invader which is on display -

Will head back there shortly and take some more photos of the cars when the crowd thins out. There are plenty of awesome WA cars on display that we have not seen before.

Nationals look awesome Rocket, I was lucky enough to go to the Newcastle nationals last year which was also an great experience.
Is Joe Caleja there with any of his beautiful cars? I was privileged to have a chat to him at Newcastle, he is a down to earth ( very lucky) guy
Cheers

Hi Shane, No worries mate.... In fact I would like to post more, but we have a very bad internet connection, so sometimes when I post a message comes up which reads " Resource Limit Reached Error". Not sure if it is at this end or the Forum end.

I am about to try to post some more photos from the terrific day we have just had - A smorgasboard of immaculately prepared Mustangs.

Hi Mattstang, Like Newcastle - this is an excellent event.

I do not think Joe is here with those superb cars of his. Unfortunately there are very few Victorians here. No idea why - guess they are busy doing other things. No problem, we will catch up with them later this year.  :smile01:

Managed to take photos of all but one of the Concourse cars, It was a beautifully prepared yellow 71 Fastback. There were just too many people around the car when I tried to photograph it.

Here they are - Photo of Brett and Angies boss from yesterday - Another I could not get close enough to today

Some more general photos -

This is Denton`s Mach 1 - He helped us out several times over the last few days -

We arrived back from the Display a short while ago. A couple of hours rest now before tonights Awards  Dinner.

Re: Time for an update - Ron " The Hoff " Hoffman is walking on air
« Reply #868 on: April 01, 2013, 02:34:06 am »
Just back from an excellent night at the Nationals Awards Presentations.

The Top Award in thoroughbred class was taken out by Paul Shervington`s incredible Fastback -

The WA cars took out a lot of Awards.

A couple of Queensland and NSW cars took out big awards -

Brian and Dawn Wildman took out Top Late model car in Display Class -

Ron Hoffman`s 71 Mach 1 was a shell back in January. Tonight he took out a Silver award in Concourse :pepper: :pepper: :pepper:

Ron is walking on air at the moment.

Our 69 Winter Blue Mach 1 also took out Silver in Concourse -

Our 69 Candy Apple Red Mach 1 also took out Silver in Concourse -

So in fact, we are all walking on air!! :pepper: :pepper:

Those who have followed this Thread will know of the dramas we have had this week. Thankfully, all 3 cars wre running well at the Judging, thanks to Denton repairing Ron`s Mach 1 on the side of the road to enable him to drive to the Judging.

What I have not told you is that our Electrical gremlins continued. The Red Mach 1 developed an electrical problem on the way back from Judging, then ron`s car would not fire up this morning. Both cars were not at the display today. We were all physically and emotionally drained and pretty well over the whole saga.

To win the Silver awards for all three cars has made it all worthwhile for us. What an instant change in attitude. :smile01: :smile01:

In other news Lee ( Foresight ) also won Silver in Concourse. He and his wife are absolutely stoked. it is a superb car -

Congrats guys! Sensational effort  :thumb:

A real special thanks for not only dealing with all the dramas but taking the time to post updates of the event for others that couldnt attend. (like Fatkid and Inga)

Take my hat off to you (aswell as all the fellow members that jumped in to help or assist with all the gremlins)

I couldnt help myself...I had to call J-Block and see how you all went
