geez Rocket...........imagine Hertz trying to stick you with a black car, they got me with that too.....

That is pure gold dale. :thumb:

It was a Hyundai Elantra. Had booked that specifically because I wanted to try one out to see how they go. Now we have a rather bland Camry, but at least this one looks presentable.

Not off to a great start here.

A short while ago an allegedly drunk driver smashed into Ben & Biancas Mustang in the carpark. Damage to the rear of the car, not major, probably 2-3k worth.
Perpetrator kept going attempting to leave but was pounced upon by 20 or so irate Mustang owners. Security and management staff have blocked his car from leaving the premises until police arrive. :toetapping:

Rumor has it that the perpetrator is a channel nine sports presenter. :kickass:

More later including pics.

Hi Guys, Just back from a lovely Chinese Dinner.

Police arrived and put the culprit on the breathalyzer, then put him in the police car and took him away - I think that says it all.

Ben and Bianca are quite calm about it now. The car can still be driven without any problems. He hit the rear bumper which pushed the bar across, bowed the rear panel, creased the rear quarter panel and possibly bent the rear frame rails. Will upload a photo shortly.

Hi red066, The car should be able to be driven back to Adelaide without problems. Ben and Bianca live near to our workshop so hopefully we can assist with the repairs. The car will need to go on a chassis straightener first to make sure it is all straight, then we can take it from there. Assuming they want us to of course. :thumb:

Here are a couple of photos showing Ben and Biancas car

In the first photo you can see how far the rear bar has been pushed across, the angle of the quarter panel to the boot lid, the tail light sitting on an angle and the rear panel bowed -

The next photo is rather blurred - poor daylight etc. The Commodore that hit the car is in the background and the driver on the LHS

In other happenings today, the Blue Mach 1 was started this morning to go around and have the undercarriage cleaned, but it was running like a woolly goat. Further inspection revealed the distributor cap was chewed out. We had a replacement cap, but it did not solve the problem. Tony, Ron, Jeremy and Sean ( Bosskraft ) worked on the car. Points, condenser, leads were changed, then the timing redone.
Car is now running sweet again. Special thanks to Sean. :thumb:

Tony, Jeremy, Monique, Luke, Brad and Fi all went around to clean the undercarriage which was as good as new in a couple of hours. We did not expect Tony to help with the cleaning, but he insisted on helping. A Top Bloke is Tony K :thumb: :smile01:

The crew getting stuck into tuning the Blue Mach 1 -

When it came back Luke got stuck into cleaning the engine bay -

While Monique cleaned the interior -

Looking good again -

Next post - Getting Tony`s Boss back together.

:omg:   so sorry to hear about Ben and Biancas car, what a hole, hope the damage will not be too expensive and the other driver has insurance.  Well you can never say a road trip will be boring, plenty of things happening to keep you on your toes.  Lets hope the rest of your time there will be better and the S.A. Crew bring home plenty of trophys
Happy Easter to each and everyone of you

Hi Guys, A new day has dawned here in Perth. Happy Easter to all :smile01:

Just poked my head out the door only to see Tony and Trish out cleaning his Boss already. At 6.30AM. That is dedication.

Kim arrived yesterday with a new Distributor for Tony, but it was  different to the original. After a bit of a conference between mechanics it was concluded that with some modifications we could make it work -

After a couple of hours hard yakka the car fired up and apart from a slightly noisy lifter it sounded sweet. After a couple of minutes that was sorted so now the car is good to go once more. :thumb:

On ya guys. Some good bush mechanicing going on there.   :thumb:

Pleased to hear its all ok again Tony.

I agree with the comment that you can get Ben and Bianca's car up to scratch. What with Luke Ron Brad and Jeremy already there Give them a shop and I am sure then can get it right overnight. If Clipsal guys can do it these guys can also.
We feel for them.

Appreciate the pics guys

Hi Brett, Have passed on your regards to the SA crew :thumb:

Hi Mark, They are a bit depressed about it today. Upon further inspection it looks like a new quarter panel is required.

This is going to be interesting

Hi Matt, Sure does suck!
Jeremy wants to know - when is Sheri`s birthday?

That sucks to put it mildly.. Can the car still be driven???

Hi Jack, we measured the centre to centre of wheels front to back on each side - it is out by 10mm. Ben will take the car for a cruise down the freeway to see how it drives.

Hi Chris/Sally, The drivers insurance  will be null and void if he was over the limit. Ben says he will have to claim on his Shannons insurance, then they will sue the perpetrator for the funds.

Wow! What a day!

Chronic problems getting the Red Mach 1 to fire up after fitting the new distributor. After a few hours it was diagnosed as the wrong firing order. Needed the firing order to suit a late model block apparently.

All cars have been cleaned to the enth degree. We are all absolutely shagged, but about to leave for tonights Meet and Greet Function.

Tomorrow is the big day for judging.

Hi Matt, Monique worked her guts out today too. Here is a quick snap I took -

So did all the others - glad that only happens once a year. :therethere:

Jeremy will not forget Sheri`s Birthday :thumb:

After the day from hell - we can all relax a bit now.

Took this photo at 6.15 this morning - opened the door to see Tony and Trish out cleaning their car -

A few photos of happenings today -

A bit of shade was required - it was hot working in the sun

Getting the Red Mach 1 out of the enclosed car trailer -

Luke was given the task of backing her out -

We have just returned from tonights function. Good showing from Qld, some from NSW/ACT, only 2 from Victoria, lots of South Aussies and also lots from here in WA. Great bunch of people.

The cars to be Judged leave here at 7.30 in the morning. Will be waiting with camera. Till then - going to bed.
