Wow! Had a very pleasant surprise upon walking into the car factory today after a long weekend down the South East.

Jeremy, Brad and Luke had continued working over the weekend in an attempt to keep us on schedule for the Nationals. The result is that the Patrol is now Winter Blue, complete with hood blackout and bonnet scoop -

It is now up on Jackstands to have the undercarriage painted black, while Jeremy is busy cleaning up all of the body rubbers prior to refitting them. Once that lot is finished we will fit the wheel arch flares, side steps and alloy wheels.

This has all happened a lot quicker than i thought. Can`t wait to break out the Flex Polisher on the Patrol and give it that Menzerna Look.

Hi Ash and jusTANG, Not enough time left to do anything with the car trailer. We are pushing shyte uphill already, which is why the boys worked over the weekend.

But you have got me thinking.... Hmmm, what can we do with it? -

Nah... Better keep my trap shut about it

In any case, i think Jeremy will tow the Red Mach with our car trailer and we will probably rent one for the Blue Mach.

Hi Mark, I was blown away when i first saw it today. Luke managed to get a beautiful finish straight off the gun. Will not need much compounding.

Think it is going to come up nicely with all of the accessories fitted.

The patrol looks shit hot Rod.
Love the scoop!

One thing I reckon u should do with that trailer is get ur phone number on it.
With cars like that mach1 getting trailered frequently, Im sure it will increase the business.
I can smell oranges !

Hi Michael, Glad you like the patrol, it is looking better with each passing day.

It was deliberate that there is no phone no. on the car trailer. We still have 4 Mustangs and a Camaro of our own to restore, but just cannot get the time to do them. But thanks for the suggestion.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With less than 7 weeks before we leave for the Nationals the pressure is on. Still have a long way to go with Ron`s Mach1. It is now up on the Rotisserie so that our new panel beater Brad can cut out the rusted sections of the floor and weld in some repair pieces. So far so good - he is a very neat worker -

While Brad works on the floor, Luke is working on the bolt on panels -

Here are Luke and Brad discussing the fine points of fitting the floor repair panels -

Brad is a fully qualified panel beater. We are hoping with Brad and Luke both working on Ron`s car we can get it over the line with time to spare.

The Patrol is also coming along well.Yesterday Jack came in and he and Brad spent the day wiring the Patrol so that the indicators in the bonnet scoop are functional. Thanks Jack!

 :thumb:

Our Brad today wet rubbed the bonnet and scoop then gave them a compounding with the buff - Came up looking a treat. Great job Brad!

Undercarriage and wheel wells have been painted. Brad is currently having the brake calipers overhauled as well. We are waiting for the front bar to come back from the powder coaters so we can fit that, which will then enable us to fit the wheel arch flares, then fit the wheels -

Should be very much advanced on the Patrol by the weekend.

Hi 66 Stang, It was pressure washed underneath, then cleaned with scourer and detergent followed by another pressure wash.

Then we srayed the undercarriage and wheel wells with K&H Spray On Body Deadener from 3M -

That was left to dry overnight, then we sprayed it with Clearcoat. Brought up a very nice shine and should be very easy to clean -

Matt,

Your spot on...

Should have it home in a few weeks, will get some mechanical work done on it first, but have been following this thread, as it has some cracking tips for those will to give painting a go.

Again, another great thread from Rocket, just wish he was here in NSW, think those SA guys have had it too easy with Rocket located over there, maybe he needs to open a shop here and spend some time over here....

What do you think fella's

You guys crack me up.

I had better level with you. Last car i painted was about 4 years ago. Too old for it now.

The young guard have taken over. The guys who do the actual work are Jeremy, Brad F, Luke, Ron and Brad B. I just wander down to the car factory every couple of days with the camera to see what is happening. Used to love the smell of body filler and paints, but now it just makes me cough. Bugger!

But i still have the theory up top. So Keith, if you decide to paint your daughters XR and want some advice - just sing out.  :thumb: Speaking of XR Falcons, first car i ever painted was my Metallic Lime Frost XR V8. Really good cars. My sister drove a 6 cylinder XR for a couple of years when she first obtained her licence. Great first car choice. Will follow your thread with interest.

As far as going to NSW is concerned, we love to visit - especially the RSL and Leagues Clubs , but looking for a slower paced life in a cool climate. :thumb: :burnout:

Hi Mattstang, Thanks mate, we like our cars to look the part but we are not scared to drive them either. Have to get some enjoyment out of them :burnout: :thumb:

When we arrived at Newcastle last year, the 2 Mach1`s were dirty underneath from driving through wet roads, roadworks etc on the way over. Jeremy, Monique, Brad and Fiona spent the next 2 days cleaning both cars. It was hard yacka. So Jeremy decided he would like to have a second car trailer that was covered in. The idea being that he could drive a car onto it and keep it clean. He has been watching Ads Australia wide in search of one that is ready to go, but they have been way too expensive for us.

This week he came across one that was over in Geelong and advertised at a low price. He went over there to check it out and after some hard bargaining he bought it. This is the one -

It needs a bit of a tidy up, but we will now have at least one clean car when we arrive in Perth.

Brad F  has been busy working on the Patrol. Bull Bar came back from the Powder Coaters and was refitted. Brad also buffed the Headlights which came up looking like new then today he started fitting the Wheel Arch Flares -

Another quick job that we did this week was to paint the bonnet of a Corvette Stingray -

The car is owned by a lady in Rural SA who is preparing the car for sale. Don`t think it will be very hard to sell.
