Brad, You picked up the basics of spray painting by using pressure packs to paint the engines. Pressure pack paints are mixed very thin by the the manufacturers.

Most people spray each coat much too thick, which results in runs and shyte looking paint jobs. You picked up on that fact very quickly. Your method of light coats sprayed evenly across the surface, allowing drying time between each coat is what makes your paint jobs look so good.

I am glad you had that paint mixed up because you will now find it easy to get that finish from a spray gun. :thumb:

hey Rod

I think the guys on here want your thoughts    What say ye all????  :pepper:
Remember I saw that personal air con unit you got    You'd freeze there not sweat.     :bolt:

Jack

Yeah..... But it is going to be 40 bloody degrees tomorrow. Factory boys will need the air conditioner unit, so i will just hibernate in the office most of the day. I might go and give Luke some encouragement at some stage and take some pics of him sweating over the buff. :therethere:

Will be much cooler next week which will give me time to do a Menzerna Polish on your car . Will do the Rotary Polisher comparison then :thumb:

Hi Pinto Pete
Thought the FE was the subject of your drooling.  Howsumever it is a H code car and an FE would be as alien as the Roush. Dollars decided.

Thinking on it ....If I had put in an FE I wouldnt have had to go through regency Therefore I wouldnt have been going to go down to get the exhaust quitened.  Therfore the bongo van wouldnt have run into me. Then I wouldnt have had the car cut up in a bodgie repair. I would still be insured with Shannons. I wouldnt have to pay to have the car repaired properly.  Lost out on the money side after all.
BUT........... the car is now looking magnificant

Hey Rod
When do we get the results of a Flex Shinex shootout?

Jack
mate I like the way you think.....
It is far easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission

Frenchy76 ! LOL !
Good job u were not born in 1969 or u might have been banned before u started !
Welcome Brad .

Great thread Rod.
I always look forward to updates.
Love seeing what u guys are doing and gaining some knowledge as well.

Jack , ur car is looking fantastic.
Rod and his guys have done a great job.
Its going to be a very sexy car.

Dont any one doubt Rods polishing efforts either.
Ive literally seen the sweat dripping from him while he gave me a polishing demonstration on a 25c day (big thanks).
Made me feel guilty watching him !
I think his plan of finding a lot of paperwork to do is the best plan for tomorrow.

By the way Rod, I'm awaiting delivery of that chokostang kit we looked at.

Loving the daily updates  :thumb:

I can smell oranges !

Hi Michael, You will be so happy with the chockostang brake kit. Gives one a whole lot more driving confidence with boosted disc brakes. :thumb:

When our 68 coupe first arrived it had 4 wheel drum brakes and i considered them so dangerous that i would not drive the car. The power booster and front discs made a tremendous difference.

You are right about the sweating. I don`t worry about it - in the genes i`m afraid.  A 25 degree day for most people is like a 35 degree day for me. That is why we bought the place down the South East - much cooler

I will go down and give Luke a bit of help today before it gets too hot. Look for photos later.

It was a stinking hot day today. Luckily for me - the boys left the air conditioner unit in the drawer area, so i quickly set about putting the final coat of Jetseal109 on the Red Mach1.
The arctic blast from the aircon made it a breeze -

Next i figured Luke would appreciate a hand, but the lazy bugger was enjoying a break when i walked in -

He had been busy buffing Jack`s Mach -

Changed him over to the Flex Rotary to do the boot -

Went away for 10 minutes and found he had switched back to the Shinex Rotary. Asked him why he changed back, but he just said he was more used to the Shinex. Whatever. Does not matter either way.
Jeremy made himself busy fitting the back of the car together -

After he had finished buffing we decided to send all the boys home. It has been a long hot week for them.

A new engine rocket. A more correct replica of a k code Shelby powerplant. Lots of effort to make it even better than it is now. Have everything so far except heads. But coming together slowly .

Hi Angelo
Grande is looking great mate.  Can you bear to take it out and get bugs and stone chips on it?
Was relieved to see all four wheels on my car last time I looked.  :bolt:

Fired it up today ...missed that sound
