Hi Jack, Yes.... it is happening more and more everyday. Never took any photos today because it is at that stage where Luke is doing the final filler work. Slow and laborious work. Will take him a couple more days to have it all ready for primer.

I did see your email - thanks. I am reluctant to order from PA at the moment because the Eastern US is under water from Hurricane Sandy. If you are happy to make the wiring uprade - fantastic. Do you know which Aussie fords used the 3G Alternator? Better to buy one locally i feel. Do not want waterlogged goods.

Hi Jack, Yes... Lots of photos there.

Now here are a couple for you. Repairs done, car is now in spray booth waiting for primer tomorrow. Took these photos as the boys were cleaning the body ready to move to the booth -

I have created a new photobucket album titled "Jacksmachs". Here is the Link -
http://photobucket.com/jacksmach1s

Had a look at Jack`s 69 Mach1 over the weekend. What a car! Very original and unmolested. See more next post.

Jacks 1969 Mach1 - Barn Find!
« Reply #456 on: November 06, 2012, 10:56:06 pm »
Yep... I believe this car was on the Barnfinds website.

Had the delight of checking this car out on the weekend -

A quick glance at this car told me it is something special. Beneath the faded Indian Fire paint is an extremely straight, original body.

Rust? Forget it... This car comes from the desert in Nevada. After a close inspection, the only bit i could find was the size of a twenty cent piece on the leading edge of the rhs quarter panel wheel well.

Jack had already began refitting the carpet inside the car, but this shot will give you an idea of how well preserved the floor is -

He was thrilled at finding the original build sheet underneath a front seat -

The build sheet is very brittle - so much so - that you cannot lift it out from under the seat spring or it will just break apart. Only option is to wait until the seat is dismantled to remove it, then gingerly try to unfold it.
Also found this piece of lead underneath the rear seat -

I believe this is a bit of lead that was spilled during the process of lead loading the join between the quarter panel and roof during manufacture of the car.

Another good place to check for signs of rust or previous damage is the left hand side trunk dropoff. No problem here -

When i opened the boot it struck me that it was a metallick noise i felt when touching the rear spoiler. Sure enough, the spoiler is made from Aluminium. I had thought they were all plastic. Even the mounting holes are elongated, which to me says the spoiler is a factory fitted unit -

Inside the bootlid is very tidy with original stickers in place. Jack even has the original Jack -

Door data plate is still there -

Engine bay is quite original other than chrome rocker covers. Jack is currently going through the drivetrain, suspension and steering to correct any problems -

I do not think there are too many original Mach1`s like this around anymore. Almost a shame to respray the car, but Jack wants it restored to as new concours condition. Should not be that big a job.

Great buying Jack! Congratulations.

More photos at this Link and also Jack`s Link a couple of posts up -

Great find ther Jack.
If its an original spoiler and its made of plastic it's a 1969, if it's fiberglass it's a 1970, if it's metal/aluminium it may be GT Falcon or aftermarket.
Very unlikely that the spoiler is factory fitted as 1969's did not come with them, only bosses.

Thanks for the encouraging words..  If I stay healthy and no more financial crices I hope to have it yeady for 2014.  All my spare $$$ at present are going to pay to have the red car repaired from the damage inflicted by the previous repairer.

Car arrived in Aus May this year so I dont think falcon spoiler.  However Rod and I were misled by the stands... they are alloy but on closer examination the spoiler is plastic.   Boot lid is stamped c9zb  63.  The mounting holes for the spoiler appear to be factory stamped during construction. ie not drilled.

Just did some searching about it on google. Agree the spoiler is not part of the Mach1 package, but there were many options available. These elongated hole stampings certainly appear to be factory -

Still, i am not an expert. Jack, does your Marti Report mention the spoiler?

Jacks 70 mach1 had  primer and guide coat sprayed today -

Looking better now Jack.
A few days of rubbing/blocking back coming up for Lukey. Did you notice the cast up his arm?

No Mate nothing on the Marti report. The only way to find out 99% sure would be the build sheet If I can ever get that out intact.
One thing I know for certain "If it was in a Ford catalog for that vehicle model" and you knew about it you could order it or as far as that goes delete it from your car. Another way.......... have a friend on the assembly line have it fitted.....But that never happened ....did it?????...........Ask me sometime about how I know about catalog items. Not on here as I have had way to many arguments from "experts"

Agreed Jack all sorts of variations occurred on the assembly line.
You could ask about the holes for the spoiler on this site, http://concoursmustang.com/

Thanks for the site. Will definately have a look there.  I have another interesting item I would like solved and they may be able to answer it. When I learn how to get a pic up on this site again I will post.  A yellow insp stencil mark.
O yeh the expert comment was not directed at you so please dont think it was. Different model car involved.

Rod
noticed the cast. Wont ask him the obvious question.   Will get the pic of that stencil up when I can *&^%$ well find out how.  Seems things have changed in the last few weeks.

If I can manage to get the car to the appropriate level that would be appreciated Dale.  :thumb:  First I need to get it decoded.  I've never seen anything like it before. Not that I am too familar with concourse cars, but learnin all the time.

Jack, Your car is very close to paint now.

Interrupted Luke today in order to get some more photos of work in progress. Luke saysjust a bit more wet rubbing, followed by a bit more primer, followed by a bit more wet rubbing and then he is ready to put it in the booth and hit it with the top coats - hopefully tomorrow.

He has already painted inside the doors -
