Hey Thanks fellas. Must admit we are getting quite excited at the prospect of getting this one finished and back on the road.

Luke wants it off the rotisserie now, but our suspension man is missing in action this week. Hope Brad has some strength left to put the bottom of the car back together next week.:smile01::

Mark, i am down the South East for a couple of days. Back on Monday. Be good if you drop in some time next week.

Mark, will see you through the week

Bee, glad you are enjoying the thread. Lots of pics to come. Look forward to seeing you and your cars at the Nationals.

69Candy, we have a small home at Millicent. Nothing flash - more like a shack really. We really like the South East for the cooler weather and nice people. Try to get down monthly when possible.
Wife has had us busy building a built in robe this weekend -

It has been quite a challenge. Not a straight wall, floor or ceiling to be found. But we are almost finished. Couple of hours in the morning - then back home for a rest.:smile01:

Macka, thanks mate. We will be driving this beauty in a few weeks time. You coming to the Nationals?

Brad and Luke were both flat out last week working on the Mach1.
Luke fitted the new passenger side door. Was not an easy job. Ended up using the Third new door that arrived. All three new doors had problems. The frames at the bottom of the doors are bent and would not follow the line of the sill panel - which was definately straight. Lukes panel beating talents were tested and he had that door fitting like a glove. He then painted the insides of the bolt on panels -

In the meantime brad finished cleaning and painting the suspension components, then fitted them to the car -

Also painted then fitted the diff and rear shockers -

Today the wheels were fitted and the car taken off the rotisserie at long last -

Luke is now making final preparations to paint the body while Brad is busy fitting new airlines and a new receiver dryer to the spray booth.

Car will be painted within the next couple of days.

Jeremy is flat out trying to organise all the bits and pieces required to put the car back together. He is having a hard time trying to find a genuine original intake manifold for the windsor 351 engine. If anybody can help please phone him on 0412075064.

Hi Dale and Mark, Thanks fellas - we are quite impressed with Lukes work. He manages to obtain a beautiful gloss finish straight off the gun, although i am not sure if it is all him - or the baking cycle in the booth that gives that smooth mirror finish. Bit of both i expect. What we are really impressed about is his attention to detail.

I think Jeremy, Brad and Fiona will bring some of the cars on sunday. Will come over early for a while myself, but have to nick off early to do some other work. Look forward to catching up.

I saw the video when this car was on Ebay, it certainly needed a rebirth.

Rocket.

Good stuff!  I like the black around the tailights especially when the black is fully extended to the rear quarter extensions, although not original this looks really nice with the Mach 1 stripe. I hope to have the same black applied to my mach 1 when the time comes. Are you going to put the black back on yours? Do you have any pics of the rear on the ground, before resto started?

6T9rustang, They had the car up on the hoist to pull the drivetrain out before i could get any photos.
Agree with you about the blackouts on the rear panel, but Jeremy wants to keep this car original - so no blackout.

While Luke finished wet rubbing the body with 800 grit wet rub, Brad was busy setting up the airlines in the booth -

One airline is to supply air to the spraygun and the other supplies air around the painters head. Tried the setup out - but Luke said that while the air keeps his head cool inside the mask, it uses too much of the available air. Bugger! Now we need a bigger compressor.

They finally rolled the Mach1 into the booth this morning and taped it up -

Here they are... very excited about finally painting the car

Luke got right into it -

Then he Baked it and eventually we rolled it out into the sun for close inspection -

We are absolutely delighted with it. Well done Brad and Luke.

Luke is preparing the bolt on panels for paint, while Brad and Jeremy get ready to start putting the car back together. We only have 6 weeks to get it finished.

Luke is busy preparing and painting the hang on panels and bits and pieces. Here are some items being baked in the booth right now -

Today the headlining was fitted -

Also fitted Dynamat to the floor, then the new carpet -

While i was taking these photos, Brad and Fiona arrived back from a lightning trip to Melbourne. They had gone to pick up a 351 V8 Windsor Engine with FMX Transmission.
This Mach1 had a Cleveland Engine in it when we bought it, but Jeremy was adamant that a Windsor 351 be fitted as this is what the car was built with originally.

He was able to do a deal with a chap in Melbourne for this unit which is supposedly out of a GT Falcon.
Will check the Engine No. once we degrease it to confirm this.

Brad will fit some new gaskets to the Engine, then give it a nice paint job before he fits it.

Things are running on schedule to have this car finished and on the road for early April.

Thankfully the Clipsal race is behind us. We are now back to a full crew. Things are happening.

Back of the car is buttoned up -

New front and rear screens and mouldings have been fitted -

Both doors have been put on the car -

Jeremy has been working on the dash and started on installing it -

Brad is busy fitting everything back in the engine bay-

Jeremy has decided to fit a 351 Windsor that Ron from the Mustang club has been busy rebuilding. We used the Intake manifold from the Engine that Brad and Fi picked up from Melbourne last week. Ron brought the engine in this morning.
Brad will give it a paint job, fit the reconditioned FMX Transmission and all addons, then hopes to have the drivetrain back in the car by the end of the week-

As long as we dont run into complications waiting for parts, it is still bang on schedule. Fingers crossed.

Not long now Rocket, I'm sure you'll have it finished in time. At least with it already being registered you won't have to waste time with that side of things. Is the shaker going back on or are you going with the scoop?
