Thankyou all for the replies.

Work continues... although at a slower pace than we would like.

Brad fitted the accessories to the engine, gave it a lovely paint job, then fitted it to the car minus transmission -

The reconditioned FMX transmission finally arrived back in our workshop but required detailing and painting before fitting it to the car. Here is Ron cleaning up the bellhousing -

Almost ready -

Car is up in the air waiting...

In the meantime Luke has been preparing Ron`s 72 mach1. It needed a dent repair to the LH Quarter panel. Luke repaired, then painted the panel, but after compounding the quarter panel and roof some bubbles started appearing on the roof where he had blended the paint. Oh shyte!

Only way forward was to take the paint on the roof back to bare metal -

What we found was surface rust on the roof that had simply been painted over. Bugger!
Luke applied some metal conditioner to the roof and is now giving it a thorough sand before etch primer-

As you can see in the above photo - Luke is always smiling. He loves this caper!:smile01:

Nothing is easy! - Just the more you do it, the less difficult it becomes:lol:

Been a busy week. Ron`s Mach1 is just about ready for rego. Roof and both quarters now painted -

Also had a few touch ups on another MOCA members car earlier this week. Had to be very careful not to get any overspray on this one -

Work continues on the red mach1. Transmission has been fitted-

Brad has fitted new Power Steering Ram and Control Valve -

New lines are being fitted to car for Brakes, Fuel etc -

Brad is currently fitting the Rear Brake Assembly including complete new Handbrake Cables -

None of it is easy, but having done it many times before, we now avoid unnecessary holdups because we know exactly where to source all the new parts. Makes life a whole lot easier now.

Need to have this car finished by next weekend, so all the blokes are hooking in.

Car came off the hoist after having the trans, brakes, fuel and brake lines fitted as well as the new wheels -

Brad and Ron are getting stuck into the engine bay. Exhaust manifolds have been fitted along with more accesories including Holley 4 Barrel Carb -

Jeremy is fitting the roof mouldings, rubbers around the windows and then the glass in the doors. Here he is a picture of concentration -

Luke has been busy doing the bonnet and wiper panel stripes -

Looking very glossy now -

Question is, will we have it finished in time? Think so, just do not need any hold ups and we should be fine.

Hi Machattack, only 11 days left before we all leave.

No sooner had i posted the above photos, there was a cry of oh no from the workshop. Upon fitting the water pump pulley we found that the pulleys do not line up. Harmonic balancer pulleys are about 20mm back from where we need them.

Jeremy has just taken off to a local speed shop to see if they know how to get around it.

Who said this is easy? Not me.:smile01:

Hi Mark, Yes - Never a dull moment around here. This work is full of both high and low moments, that is for sure.

Good news. Jeremy came back from OG Speedshop with what we think is the correct Hamonic Balancer setup. Will know for sure in the morning. Fingers crossed. I do not know a lot about harmonic balancers, but apparently the weight is very important. ie counter balanced to crankshaft. He believes this looks to be correct.

We should have the car finished in time. Schedule for next couple of days is tomorrow fit harmonic balancer, power steering pump and radiator etc. At the same time Luke will polish bonnet and fit the scoop. Next is to fit bonnet, guards and bumper. Jeremy will fit door and quarter panel glass while all the above is happening.
Body needs to be ready for stripe man on Friday.

That will leave next week for Dash, electricals, interior, then bleed brakes and finally off to get the exhaust fitted.

Well... That is the plan anyway. See how it goes!:hope:

All the boys are working back tonight in an attempt to keep on schedule.

Progress can sometimes be slow, because every part must be thoroughly cleaned, sometimes painted or polished up or replaced. Here are a couple of examples -

Parking Brake mechanism - Brad had been cleaning and painting it a few weeks back, but we found out that replacement mechanisms are now available. The chrome on the old one was a bit pitted, so we went with the newie -

Power Steering Pump is OK so we cleaned it up and painted it -

And so on, and so on.

Happy to see that our problem with the Harmonic Balancer has been overcome. Belts line up very well now and have been fitted -

Brad was pleased to be at the stage of fitting the Radiator this arvo -

Jeremy has fitted the door and quarter glass -

Then he fitted the rubber door seals. These are glued on and masking tape is used to hold them in position until the glue dries -

Next it was time to fit the rear spoiler -

Test fit -

Finished -

In the meantime Luke was helping Ron to paint the bottom of his Mach1 which goes for registration inspection on Monday -

When i left work this arvo they were busy fitting the front guards and headlight buckets. Think MachAttack was correct. There are going to be a few late nights coming up.
