Yes. Congratulations to the S.A. winners.
I think I congratulated them all in person last night but they deserve it because the cars were absolutely great.

I made an early start back this morning.
I woke at 4am (with the trip home in the back of my mind) and couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to head off at 5:45am instead of waiting around.
I arrived back home around 3pm after a couple of short stops.
It was pretty much no traffic until I hit Tailem Bend about 1:30pm, which was REALLY busy and the Freeway back was packed with idiots.
Hope it thinned out for u guys later but I suspect it was probably worse.

Ive enjoyed my first Nationals.
Met a few guys from the forum, met some other new characters, seen mega loads of nice cars, had a belly full of laughs and also spent a hell of a lot of time driving my car.

Bring on next year  :pepper:

Congratulations to all the winners, of course S.A. Cars are the best
Also a big congratulations to the guys at Image Classic Cars on a job well done, its a testament to the workmanship, skill and hard work you put into these cars
Drive safely on the way home guys
Sally & Chris

Hi Sally/Chris, The winners are all carrying a very wide smile today. Jeremy, Brad, Luke, Blutey, Ron and myself are all stoked with the results. We are all learning more about these cars each year. Our intention is that each resto should be better than the previous one. So far, so good.

Congratulations to all, but Rocket, Is it a good idea to boast about breaking the 100 k speed limit and doing 174 k, you may put the Victorian visit later in the year in jeopardy ?

Hi jademustang, Thanks.
All partcipants in the You Yangs visit had uppermost in their mind that they must comply with all rules laid out by the Ford people. The laps were done on the private Ford Test Track - the only speed limits imposed were by Ford Staff, who invited the drivers to see what they could do. One of the Ford blokes posted the best lap time of the day. It was all very controlled with strict rules adhered to by all. At last nights function the Ford guys said they had a ball and are looking forward to the Victorians visiting the facility :thumb:

Michael, I concur with your sentiments. We all had a great time in Geelong.

We left at 7am and had light traffic until we stopped for an hour at Bordertown. Big mistake! Lots of caravans, boats and trucks on the road from there, very slow trip home.
Arrived home about 4.30

66Hertz, if there were prizes for the best wheel presentation then I think yours would have taken it out.  Rick did a great job cleaning them up.  I noticed that all tyres were matched exactly on the rims and those places were matched the way the tyre were positioned to the ground on display.  Very detailed and well presented.   :thumb:

Rick was a great help, it was late in the afternoon and he stayed back at the carpark and helped me clean the white lettering on the tyres. Chuffed that someone noticed I went to the trouble in the morning to jack it up at all four corners and get the Hertz logos on the wheels all straight......well spotted thanks!...

I don't have the best car, but I make the best of the car I have. :thumb:

Congrats to all SA winners. Just reading this in Tuscany but have had limited opportunity to get wifi to check the results. Have been wondering how the Nationals went and seems like everyone had a blast.

Hi Mark, Hope you are enjoying the trip. Have been checking out Tuscany, seems like a great place.

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/italy/tuscany

Do you have any photos of the trip so far?

Yes.. We all had a great time at the Nationals. SA took out 9 Awards in Total. Waiting for results to be posted so that I can complete my list. Highlight was the Sunday Display. So many well prepared Mustangs there.

Hi Rod, glad to hear everything went well. I do have photos of Tuscany but the wifi Internet that I occassionally get is not good and it is difficult to send pics. I am in Athens today and have found some wifi coming from the port terminal so taking advantange of that. The internet on the ship is very expensive as it is satellite internet and very slow, it also does not send pics.

I've got a lot of catching up to do on the site when I get back but doing some now. Will be in Istanbul tomorrow.

Wow! Getting the letters on the tyres to line up! Getting them all level! Good effort. And I thought I was pedantic. - I've got nothing on you Hertz.

Surely you don't lose points (or get extra) for where the tyre writing is in terms of the wheel centre caps? I'm pretty sure Ford would not have given a rats where the tyre writing was when they were originally fitted!

as a young boy growing up, my dad always said if a job is worth doing, its worth doing right and I have lived by that all my life and now tell my own boys the same. As far as the wheels go I set them up straight because in Display Judged there are some really great cars and little things like that extra effort put in can make all the difference.

Re: Time for an update - Eleanor Painted
« Reply #1221 on: June 12, 2014, 05:05:25 pm »
It has been a hard grind since the Nationals. Blutey has been hard at work on the rather large panels of the Cadillac. Brad is working on Emberglow`s undercarriage and drivetrain to bring it up to Concourse standard and Luke has been busy with the QLD bound Eleanor body. That was a snowball job, but I must say it has come up looking sweet. He painted the stripes on it yesterday and the rest of the body today. Check it out -

The body is now gun barrel straight and with Luke`s paint job it is now a stunner. The Qld owner is going to be one happy chappy.

Jeremy and Blutey are working on Angelo`s Eleanor. The right hand drive conversion is underway. At the moment they are modifying the air conditioner box -

More later.

Continued.....

Here are Blutey and Jeremy working out where to fit the air cond box -

This Eleanor is being converted using Dynacorn Firewall and Dash, as well as a TCP Steering Rack -

Here is Angelo with the 495 hp engine which will be fitted in the car -

Rick and Maree were bitten by the Concourse bug at the Nationals after taking out a Display award with Emberglow. The drivetrain was removed for the purpose of tidying up the undercarriage and while it was out Brad cleaned and detailed the motor and Trans. It is almost ready to be fired up -
