Hi All,
Just thought I'd share the most exciting news.....
My first mustang that I purchased off Ken back in October is finally arriving today!!!! to my door step!!!
This car has almost seen the world, coming from California via God knows where to Perth, then to Adelaide and now finally has arrived in Sydney but yet to arrive to my doorstep sometime today I've been informed.
Although the wait has been escruciating.....Ken from Perth has been an absolute pleasure to deal with.
I'm confident the car will be everything he described it to be and if so, it will be an absolute bargain.
No good news ever comes without bad news......
I hurt my back yesterday lifting weights at the gym :_:_:_
Although in pain, but atleast I'm still walking!!
Atleast i'll be able to walk over to it and sit in it!!!:p:f
-
Good news mate, when it arrives you wont even feel your back. :+
-
... and it you need to sleep sitting up .. what better way than dozing in your new Muzzy!!
Congratulations and good luck with the car. I hope it meets all your expectations ... keep us posted with some pics!!!

-
Congratulations! Hope to see it registered and on the road quickly, then you'll never want to get out of it. Plenty of cruises and showns going on so when we we see it on the road?
Cheers Bee

Thats awesome news mate i know the feeling the sleepless night before thinking of all the good things you have pictured in your head of the stang. The anticipation of it all is great. It takes you back to your childhood and you think you are 5 yrs old and its xmas day.
I hope you have many happy times with your new toy and enjoy getting those little butterflys everytime you go sit in it and fire her up..
All the best!;_

Stanglover...welcome ;{

:f ;* car has arrived!
THE GOOD BITS:
* Car has arrived........hehe
* Doesn't seem to need too much work
* NO RUST which is a major plus
* Brand new wheels and tyres looking really good.
* Has 350 clone body kit
* Engine seems to look like in good order but haven't tried to start it yet
THE BAD BITS:
*Engine bay sprayed gloss black....yuck!!!, also, dikhead never took out the motor before spraying, so lots of wires are sprayed gloss black....dikhead!!
* Engine is a 289 with a three speed manual. (difinately need to upgrade..later)
* palm size dent on passenger door that wasnt there when the original photos were seen so it happened somewhere in transit...NOT HAPPY!!!!
* Needs full interior kit, if anyone can help please let me know where to find them and how much
*As usual, paint work looked alot better in photos than up front, but livable for now.
* All chromie bits needs replacing as dikhead just bent them and threw them inside the car and boot.
At the moment i'm a little disappointed as I was expecting a little better than what arrived, but I'm still over the moon that I have a FASTBACK mussy in my garage.
The best of it is that my wife likes it and says she's happy to help me put in the $$$$$ to fix it up. :w.....can u believe it? she wants to invest into it? whats' this world coming too......:+:+:+:+

All of our wives imvest in the mustangs, they just don't all know it!!! Stanglover, you're gonna love the whole experience, even the frustrating bits. Because a bad day with the Mussy is far better than the best day at work.
Cheers Bee

Stanglover,
Firstly, congrats on getting the new toy. I think we all understand how excited you are.
Secondly, the photo link you've posted is incorrect. It's a location on your PC!
Thirdly, YOU HAVEN"T STARTED IT YET??????? What the??? ;x What are you doing wasting time on the internet? Get out there & take it for a spin!
Evan.

nope, it didn't work, try Photobucket
Oh yea, congratulations :p :p:p
-
ev,
Cant start it as I'm not mechanically minded...not sure whats wrong at this stage, hopefully its just battery and spark plugs being wet from quarantine wash...etc..
Cant take it for a spin, as motor doesn't turn over plus interior has no carpet, no roof lining and seats need to be retrimmed ...all torn up.
I'm searching for someone around the Sydney area the gets the interior kits and then someone in Sydney to upholster. If anyone knows anyone please let me know.
For photos, I'll try photobucket

Give David a call. 0414693502 Been working on Mustangs and classics as long as i can remember. Did my Dads vert roof GREAT JOB and will be doing mine.
MOCA NSW advertiser too!
Whereabouts are you someone here might be able to pop around and give you a hand to get it running.
-
Interior kits are cheap from the Mussy parts people.
No need to spend a bomb on someone else redoing it from scratch.
James.

HI BAS,GLAD YOU FINALLY GOT THE CAR,JUST A COUPLE OF POINTS WANT TO CLEAR UP REALLY..
1,THE DOOR DENT MUST HAVE HAPPENED IN TRANSIT FROM FREMANTLE TO YOUR PLACE AS ALREADY MENTIONED CAR WAS DENT FREE WHEN INSPECTED BY ME AND MY WIFE AT FREMANTLE.
2,GLOSS BLACK ENGINE BAY WAS CLEARLY SEEN IN PHOTOS SUPPLIED TO YOU PRIOR TO PURCHASE!.
3,AS IN ALL PHOTOS AND INFO SUPPIED YOU KNEW THE CAR WAS A 289 3 SPEED MANUAL AND THAT THE CAR NEEDED A "FULL"INTERIOR KIT.
HOPE THIS CLEARS UP ANY CONFUSION WITH ALL THE PEOPLE HERE.
ALL THE BEST AND ENJOY YOUR NEW TOY! REGARDS KEN
-
Hi Ken,
Apologies to those that misunderstood......
when i spoke about seller, i meant the original owner in the states that did the work to it before selling.
And just to clear things up, Ken has been nothing but a pleasure to deal with.
Again, I'm happy with my purchase which was done just via photos. Now that I have it in my garage I can see the work it needs and am looking forward to the adventure of the surprises, the ups and downs, and the excitement of getting it back after upholsterer does the new interior.
I'm around the Brighton Le-Sands area close to Sydney Airport.
Any help in either starting the motor, advice on getting a bigger motor, etc...etc.. much much appreciated.
Regards,
Bas
-
Thats how i took the original post to mean.
Im in the shire but work near the airport so if you want help one day let me know.
-
hey Bas you sound excited. Seeing there has been no great offers of help, Im your man.
Have a bit of time on my hands at present and am ready to fit a new 302 Roush with a four slot. Full trim, no problems. Have a set of wheels that should really make her look smick.
Just say the word and I'll pick her up and get started .
Should be ready for you to pick up about Easter.....2020 !

-
Looks great!
Will give you a call and set up a time to have a sticky beak at it and see if we can fumble our way through to get it started!:f
-
Hi stuie87,
Really looking forward to that :=
-
Give you a call tomorrow and see what works.
Working on my mussy tomorrow.Hope i get somewhere:_:_:_
-
Thanks bud....... hope you got tools.
All I have is every size in the world for allen keys. :-
-
No tools had them "borrowed" a few months back.Lost a prized pipe wrench my grandfather bought back in 1938;]
Will borrow from my parents a selection.:*
-
G'day StangLover,
Is the starting problem electrical or mechanical ???
I'm currently working up in Syd at the moment out at Randwick and staying in Croydon. If you dont get to many offers of help, drop us a line. I have my electrical tools/instruments up here but my mechanical stuff is back in Melb.
Cheers

stanglover thats a nice lookin car mate :( :(
really like it and cant wait to see it driving round!
-
Thanks 65pony, appreciate the feedback, it helps to receive these comments from mussy enthusiasts rather than the smart-ass comments your freinds make who think they know everything.
They've given me the first choice of putting it up for sale as is and be happy with the extra money I make.
I told them to dream on as I'll never sell it!! Don't care if I have to spend big dollars to fix....which doesn't look like it will need it anyway...... prolly looking about 10grand total with brand new interior, worked motor and bits and pieces.
-
j1autotech,
I've had an offer for help from one member, if he's too busy I will let you know as I'd love to get her started asap or even just to find out what the problem is.
Apparently it was a goer before shipping from the states, so it might just be a battery etc??
When i turn the ignition there's nothing, no power, no light , no noice ......nothing.
Hope that gives you ideas??
I freind had a very very quick look, got his hands on the fan and turned it a few times and said that it had compression?!?....don't know what he's talkin about. but maybe u do.
He wanted a long screwdriver to tingle with the alternator?!....... I didn't have one and he had to leave so got no where.
-
Turning the motor over is a waste of time if you have no power.
If you're getting no lights or anything, then most likely:
1) the battery is discharged, or dead.
2) Connections to the battery are bad
3) Bad main earth
4) fuse(s) blown
-
Maz,
go buy a new battery. Not allways, but alot of batterys coming across the ocean even as roll on roll off, never make the jouney.
DOA
Start there as you dont know how old the battery is
Matt
-
Doesn't surprise me.
Most lead acid batteries don't like not being used for long periods of time.
How long is the boat journey? Couple of months?
Thats definitely enough to do it.
-
Ive never bought a car with a decent battery. People tend to throw in whatever will get it started for the lucky buyer to drive away and keep the good one for their new car which will inevitably arrive with a crappy battery.
-
Hmmm maybe that's why they call one form of shipping "roll on roll off", for those that have crook batteries......;-)
If the only prob I had when my car arrived was a dud battery then I would be pretty darn happy with that. :2
-
haha thats because they don't wanna see it finished, because if they do it will put em all to shame!!
by the way check your U2U
-
Congratulations, its a good feeling to see ya mustang in person for the first time.

Had the pleasure of meeting my first Forum member: stui87.
What a getleman.....drove for 20min just to come and help!
-
So Did you get any further towards getting the girl running?
-
Starting problems......
Ok, bought a new battery put it in.
Now I have lights, blinkers etc........
Try to turn the ignition and all that happens is the fan half turn......and thats it?! Doesn't feel like there's enough power to keep in turning.......
Any ideas?????.....I'm not banging my head yet

Everyone gives thumbs up! There will be no mistake if you give two thumbs down, won't look real good, but at least I'll know it's you!!!
