Title: Seat belts in a '69 made after 31st Dec '68
Post by: jiffy on February 02, 2023, 03:46:10 pm
This is when the ADR's come into force - so, just trying to gauge people's experiences. I have the specs as per the QLD Transport and Mainroads Office - but it's about 76 pages and the seatbelts section is turning my brain to mush.

Are the original '69 seatbelt mounting points ok to use - specifically the lower outer front seatbelt mounting points where the retractor will have to go? Hoping the roof mounting point in the fastback is also ok?

Any experience from '69/70 owners when putting in seatbelts recently?

I am in Perth and my 70 isn't registered yet but I have recently sorted my seatbelts to meet licensing requirements. You can use the existing mounting points and run a modern extractor system. Seat belt Solutions in Perth supplies ADR compliant seat-belts for old cars Australia-wide and they might be worth a chat. They restored and certified my rear belts but wouldn't do the fronts as they cannot certify the function of the old retractor mechanisms.
