Title: Yellowing white walls

I bought these tyres https://www.huntsmanproducts.com.au/products/14-whitewall-205-75r14-suretrac-tyres-28mm-white-line?_pos=20&_sid=2088ced2f&_ss=r and it appears after about 100KM they're yellowing at the outer circumference.

Photos at https://imgur.com/gallery/E8FESfh - I think there's some white balance going on, they don't look as bad in the pics but in person they are quite dark at the outer circumference.

I've been in touch with Huntsman and they recommend to "super fine wet and dry or a caramel wheel will get that off and the discolour can be caused by tyre shine".

The tyre shine is unlikely as they were starting to yellow before any was applied, and wouldn't it yellow evenly as tyre shine is applied evenly?

And with the very fine sand paper - I've never lightly sandpapered any whitewalls nor used a caramel wheel as it's never been required - some solvol or nifty did the job for the last 20+ years.

Does anyone have any thoughts to the above?

That browning is an oil contamination from out of the tyres surely? Perhaps a thorough scrub clean of the whole sidewall and it will reduce over time?

On a tangent, what do people use to completely and finally remove that blue coating that comes on new raised white letters, I think it's a similar issue?

I use steel wool soap pads on my white walls, just about all white walls need a freshen up now and then.

Mine were badly stained when I first got the car, it took some 800 grit wet sanding to get them white again. Now I just maintain them with jif paste and a stiff brush.

I fitted some new Maxxis recently and 1 of the tyres was like yours so i went back and they tried all sorts of methods to clean it but in the end they had a clean one and replaced it and fitted it up , from what i see you may have a battle trying to get them white.

ok, discoloration of the side walls on newer tires is typically caused by the chemicals they blend into the rubber compound that is designed to leech (bloom) out to prevent the outside of the tire from premature dry cracking, and it can usually be removed with bleche white, which is designed exactly for that purpose.
