Title: Dynasty Green 64 1/2
Post by: Dale64 on December 01, 2017, 08:12:40 am
Hi All,

Have recently broken my Mustang cherry.
A numbers matching 64 1/2 Dearborn built F code coupe

Options list as fitted

Power Steering
Power Brakes
AM radio
Heater
Cruisomatic C4
Wheel Covers ( knock offs )
260 V8
Seat belts
Sun Visors
Undercoating

Car is equipped with front disks but i havent worked out yet if they are original or fitted later.

Cali car all its life. Underneath is pretty much spot on,  all original metal.

Engine and trans have been rebuilt during its life .

Original owner was a dealer mechanic who passed away in 1972 leaving the car to his daughter.
She had it until 2007 when she sold it to a friend of her late fathers ( another Ford employee )
He did a closed door respray during his time with the car.
He sold it to a guy in Western Australia in 2011,  who spent a small fortune on the suspension and steering .
I bought it off a Melbourne based dealer a week ago.

It came with a folder full of receipts dating back to when it was new,  including California rego renewals etc

I am currently trying to chase up club reg,  and hope to be driving it around soon.

Cheers

Dale

Hi Dale
I had a good look over this car a couple of years ago when Bernie recently acquired it, I did consider buying it but for the 36 k it needed a little to much to bring it up to how I wanted, I believe I did see a receipt in the pile for the disc brake fitment, not certain though, its a tidy car, there was a bit of rust in the  doors and in the  a couple of guards, that i pointed out to Burnie, he was going to have them tidied up, hope you saw it in the raw, either way it is a tidy car with some history, congrats

Thanks,  yes i did see it before the work.
He had the door bubble repaired as part of what I requested,  but i am going to pull it apart and redo,  not 100% happy with that work. Not bad,  just not the standard i would like.

The bubble in the lower rear quarter on each side i will sort out at some stage soon.  I havent used my mig for a few years, so want to play around a bit before i start cutting out metal.   They are only small anyway,  and the surrounding metal is good so should only be small repair patches.

I bought it with a RWC,  which cost Bernie a bit of money ( just over $1000 ) . Nothing major ,  just small things,  plus tyres.

We negotiated a price,  i paid less than that   :)     He was actually pretty good to deal with ,  and a nice bloke.

Cheers

Dale

So the burning question to us folk who own a '641/2 Mustang is what is the build date?  I would still like to know what is the oldest one in Oz.
