There's another thread on this topic named Photobucket has changed their rules.

I'm not sure why my photobucket is still working

Was a passenger side mirror an option for these cars?

Was a passenger side mirror an option for these cars?
I'm sure in NSW yes required for rego. Mine had one fitted, I got mine from Victoria
-
My 67 is on full NSW rego and only has driver side mirror
-

Passenger side mirrors were made law in the 80's; if I'm correct, 1981. Many Aus. cars of the 70's only have driver's side mirror.

Was a passenger side mirror an option for these cars?
Yes. For some bizarre reason the passenger side mirror was a 'manual adjust' (ie. have to wind down the window), whereas the driver's side was remote - back to front IMO!
On my '67s I just fitted another remote type to the passenger side as it's reversible; just had to cut the corresponding hole in the door card - mirror it to the LH side - and I also had to trim back some metal immediately behind it. Not concours but suits my purposes. The C pillar creates a bad blind spot when car LHD which the mirror does alleviate some.

Spot on, that's the info I was chasing, Its the blind spot I don't like, if you can eliminate it some, happy days , thanks

Nice fastback. Rare car one of only 200 67 Fastbacks made. What's the history of it?

I got a fair bit of documentation with the car. I haven't had a chance to go through it properly.
The car had a bare metal restoration in 2002. It looks to of been a very good body to start with.
The car came to Queensland in 2008 & then to Perth in 2009
The car was originally sold on the day I was born, bit of a omen there maybe

Delivered in New Mexico. If it spent it's life there until 2008 the body would've held up better than most.
Great car.

Surely there was more than 200?
-
IIRC there were only 489? K code 289 (non-Shelby) Mustangs built in '67. How many of those were spread across each of the three body styles I don't know, but I guess Raven does!
Supposedly the K code sales , which had been good in '66, were hurt in '67 by the new availability of the big block S code in the Mustang, which worked out cheaper than the K code 289 due to the latter being tied in with mandatory 'options' that made it the more expensive.
So you have a limited edition Mustang!
-
Your k code is listed in the fourth edition of,THE HIGH PERFORMANCE MUSTANG book,A must read if you own a k code, in the book there is only 15 San Jose k's listed, but it's been 2006 since last updated.

Shelby had the right idea in 65, I could use one of these on the passenger side but it's only a bother when exiting freeways or Y-junctions.

I owned and sold a great 67 GT fastback K code about 9 years ago ,gee why did I sell it :kickass: . I bought it from CA at a all Ford day ,damn nice car .

We're tacho's an option?
-
Yes, was installed in the RH of the two largest binnacles in the instrument panel and the other gauges/lights shuffled around to suit, and different wiring loom.
Google it and you'll see what they look like. Not a common option so not easy to find a good original 2nd hand therefore expect to pay $$$. However, I believe repro '67/68 tacho kits have now become available in the USA.

Are you saying not all 67's have a tacho in the dash? What is in the bezels of the ones that don't?

oil pressure and alternator I thinks.
-
I suspect most '67/68s didn't have the tacho option. Few cars I've seen had one, neither of mine did.
IIRC when the tacho is fitted the two small gauges are replaced with warning lights.
Not 100% certain - I don't have my reference material at hand - but I think the tacho was a separate option in itself.

A-ha, I've never really noticed these ones, the ones I've seen probably all had the tacho retrofitted.
s
-
That's a '68 dash. To add in the tacho the fuel gauge was swapped across to one of the small gauges.
You'd have thought that the tacho would be standard with the GT option but not so.
-
That's a '68 dash.
You have my attention, educate me on the differences between 67 & 68.
s
-
Yep that's a 68 dash . The 2 long slots , wiper switch slot and blinkers and brake waning light I think it is on the right hand side for the 67 .And I don't think the 67 has the horse under the clock .
-
This is mine,
Does this look to be original?

-
Google the gauge clusters for '67 and '68 and put them side by side and you'll see numerous differences including changed gauge positions, differently styled control knobs including the heater controls, etc and all as Glenn 70 noted.
Yep, that's what I'd call a full '67 dash on yours, complete with tacho and clock, standard interior style with the black camera case finish.
Many cars didn't get the clock - there was just a blank panel in back in lieu of the gauge - unless the Deluxe interior was ordered. Yours has the standard interior yet has it anyway. Plus you have the tacho. You also have the lower door grilles which are there for the door courtesy lights and/or door speakers options, or both (in your case for the 8-track presumably).
AFAIK those were all options available individually, but equally could have been bundled as a package, either at the request of the first owner or by the dealer for a car for stock to glam it up, you'd need the factory build sheet to work out more detail. It's the sort of topic that causes much debate among some enthusiasts and concours types.
Suffice to say you've got a very nice car with a pretty comprehensive stack of options.
-
That wiper switch location looks like it would suck while driving.
-

You're right there! Stupid location. Mind you, there's also the washer bottle pedal on the floor which activates the wipers for a couple of sweeps.
However, I never drive mine in the rain.
-
Yeah I cant see mine ever getting wet except when its getting a bath
Thanks for the replies
Seems like some tachos went to 6K some to 8K
-
Yep if you ordered a tacho in 67 you got the 6,000 one . If you bought a hi performance K code you got the 8000 tacho . Yes the wiper switch is in a stupid spot on 67/68 models ,but not much better on other models either . Looks like you bought a ripper of a car :thumb:
-
thanks mate
-
The car came with this carb set up as well as the standard autolite & manifold
Not sure if Ill stick with this set up or go back to the original
Were these carbs an option or is it an aftermarket set up?
The car has stalled a couple of times, I think the needle & seat is sticking
Fuel was coming out the vent tube
Am I on the right track with the needle & seat sticking?

-
Yes you are , check and adjust the float levels on all three carbs . But it might have some dirt etc in the needle and seat .. You can try tapping the top of the brass screw and see if that stops it .

Thanks Glen,
Yep I did that & it cleared but it happened again, Ill pull the carb off & clean it
Cheers

What are the autolite 4100 carbs like?
I'm thinking I might put the carb back to stock
