Title: Speedo cable leak
Post by: Coupe66 on June 12, 2016, 09:41:17 am
Hi guys,
I have been chasing a transmission leak on the c4 in my 66 coupe. I have replace most seals and gaskets to finally realise it is leaking from the speedo cable.
It is not leaking from the oring into the housing but from the crimp on the outer cable.
Would I be best to just fit a new speedo cable or is there a trick to sealing this up?
Cheers..

Replace the cable. Mine was doing similar (not sure it was from the crimp though), but the outer layer becomes frayed over time allowing oil to seep through. It then runs down the cable and drips on the floor. A new cable sorted my leak.

Thanks for that.
I think that will be the best option. They aren't that expensive so I will pull mine out, check the length and just replace it..
Cheers.
