Title: Axle offset on a 66 8 inch

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Does anyone know the axle offset for a 66 8in. Its said its either 2.5 or 2.66 but I can only get near 2.4 or less without taking the drum brake backing plate off. Would I be correct if I measured from front of axle housing flange to the front of the axle flange. Seems I wouldn't get close to 2.66.

Thanks 289vert , I finally took everything off and measured it properly. Fitted the brakes , all good. Cheers.
