Here is my 68 Fastback... ;{;{;{
I have had it for a while now... I have put Torq Thrust IIs on it... tidied up a few oil leaks and added AC...
Hopefully this winter I will be pulling the 302 out and rebuilding it... then later on, when I have some more cash... a full bare metal respray.

Nice ride mate.... love the height and those rims. What size tyres do you run?
-
they are 16 inch rims... and I would love to tell you the exact tyre size... but the car is in the workshop at the moment so I cant just go look at em.
I will get back to you on tyre size...
But it sits at nice height...its great what an oxy torch can do to springs....CUT !!!!
-
Very nice , How many badges do you have on it man.Gotta love the colour though.I got chrome Torque Thrusters on mine too and they do look great.
-
wished my doors lined up like that;]
like my belly, there's a bit of sag happening. :*
looks very schmick!
-
Did you upgrade your radiator when you fitted A/C,Orto? My air con goes in next week and I'm a little concerned about keeping it cool.
Love the look of your ride.
I've got door droop too xrayman but the fix is supposed to be fairly simple.Thats next after the air con.

Johnpony... I hate the fact that whoever did the last so-called-resto on the car put script badging AND GT badging... it will be coming off when I do the respray...
...in fact...maybe I will go out and just rip them off now !!! :[
if only that was the only thing wrong...
As for radiator... I have a 16 inch Davies Craig thermo fan on it in case things get hot... but the radiator does a fairly good job as long as we are moving... its only when stationary that things get warm....
-
if that was the only thing wrong... I thought I was the only one that was so obsessed with my car's faults!
I reckon your car looks fantastic,Orto.
I'd love to have a fastback to go with my coupe:+(and a 68 Camaro-but thats another story)
Don't forget to get the rim aand tyre sizes-I'm still thinking about changing my wheels.

Blue302/bob,
yep, I know the door sag is a relatively easy fix, (certainly easily than fixing my belly sag :w but just moved house, and have no spare time at the moment.
orto,
what's the name/code of your silver paint?
-
one very nice muzzy!
-
It runs 225/50 R16 on fronts and 225/55 R16 on rear.
Hope that helps...

Xrayman...my car is originally Highland Green... and the silver is actually not that good in real life.
I think it is similar to Silver Frost... but not 100% sure.

you can sort of see the droop in the door - about 3/4 inch
Aaron.
-
nice ride... you may have door droop... but at least your paint is glossy... mine is "sort of" glossy... it has lost its lustre !
Hence... the new paint job it is getting one day...
-
....just wanted to waste a posting to make it a nice round 100 POSTINGS.... woo hoo !!!!

Those 68 fastbacks are the ants pants!
Once painted a ZL Fairlane in a VT Commodore colour - from memory it is called Quiksilver. Looked fab on the Ford.
ortovosh, what have you done to the 302 motor?
What sort of cost to do a full rebuild without going over the top?
rocket.
-
What intake manifold is that Orto? What else has been done?
Looks nice and neat.
I'm thinking about taking my air-con out and selling it.It definitely hasn't been worth doing and I'd rather have an engine bay without the clutter.

BLU & Rocket,
Its a Edelbrock Performer RPM 289. It also has a mild-street Crow cam in it and it will getting a 4bl 600 Holley once in the engine bay. The entire block was stripped, acid dipped, bored 20thou, linished crank, new pistons and rings, re-used the conrods, new double row timing chain, new brass welsh plugs, chrome valve covers and a coat of Ford blue paint.
Also had the C4 rebuilt. No shift kit - just a driver.
The engine and tranny work was $4000. The labour was about $1500. I had budgeted about $5k, so it hasnt worked out to bad. It is a streetable 302. Nothing fancy - it is definitely not a drag car - just a cruiser.
The exhaust will be a few hundred I guess. I re-used the manifolds, but will do full length headers down the track.
Whils the motor is out I fixed up the steering (typical worn bushes and too much play in it) and putting in a new Moto-Lita steering wheel while I am doing that, so it should tidy the car up a bit.
Photos to come when all finished. ;{
I must admit - all I have done is supply the parts... our Ambulance workshop mechanic has done all the work for me in his workshop at home ! Thanks Pete ! :(

Looking good,Orto.
That's the trouble with this forum-now I want to warm up my Coupe's motor and buy a Fastback as well-I love the look of your cars Orto and Xrayman.
At least I've re-hung my doors now-no more droop.
Bob
-
Hi Bob,
yep, I actually got my doors rehung so there's no say anymore as part of getting it ready for sale.
now if only I could get rid of the belly sag I mentioned a few months ago as part of getting ready for summer!
Aaron.

Bob,
I want to put new shockies and brakes on first (which will also mean a wheel alignment) and then I'll readvertise.
(this time with location: Brisbane - I get 6 calls from people in Melbourne who then decided to look at closer ones)
Aaron.

Damn Fine!
