Hi Everyone!
Thought I might introduce myself and my Mustang. My name is Justin, I'm 25 and from Melbourne. And this is my black with black deluxe trim 1966 A-Code with a4v 289 and 3 speed top loader. I purchased the car in May of last year sight unseen off eBay. Thought it was too good a deal to pass up. So with the deposit down. I flew up to Newcastle to pick it up and drive it back home.
After a smooth journey home over 2 days was completed, I got stuck into turning it into something a bit closer to what I wanted. I'm setting the car up to see some track time but still require something I can put the family in and go for a cruise.
So far the list of mods looks something like this:
-Fibreglass bonnet with pins
-Removed front bumper
-Export brace and Monte Carlo bar
-Global West upper and lower control arms
-Ajustable strut rods
-Roller spring perches
-600lbs from springs with a coil cut off
-1 1/8" front sway bar
-185lbs TCP rear leaf springs
-Koni Classic shocks all round
-Wheels upgraded to 7x15 with 225/60R15 tyres. Would still like a set of 15x7 Torq Thrusts to run a set of semi slicks on.
-Full exhaust system with Tri-Y extractors with mandrel bent 2.5" pipes to a spintech boom tube that exits on the passenger side
Future mods planned:
-Unisteer manual rack and pinion. Have read of some fitment issues so man go with a 16:1 box and Shelby arms
-Disc brake front end conversion. Most likely will go with the Wilwood Dyalite kit.
-Replace floors and install convertible inner stills and torque boxes.
-Replace running gear with roller 302, T5 box and 3.9 ratio 9 inch.
Here's a photo of the car when I purchased it.

Welcome Justin

Hi Justin, congrats on the car and welcome to the obsession. Sounds like it will be a weapon on the track when it's ready.
-
The photos are not working for me - but that might be because work ONLY lets us use IE7 (!!!)
Welcome.
-
That's strange. I might try using a different photo host.

It's pretty loud but not too bad. Lots of crackles and bangs on over run which always puts a stupid grin on my face.

Finally got around to installing some brake ducts to the front of my mustang. There are plastic ducts behind the stainless mesh with 3" ducting to the front brakes. Pretty happy with how they turned out. Not 100% sure whether I will keep the mesh in the front or run them open.

Love the look of retro race car👍
-
any links to videos of it running yet mate? would love to see / hear
-
No videos yet unfortunately, I'll have to setup a YouTube account and post some up. The car is now running semi slicks which is really highlighting the shortfalls of the current brakes and steering.

I had Luke from Fuel Magazine come out and take some photos of the car and do a short write up a couple of weeks ago. It's now up on the website if anyone is interested. http://fueltank.cc/blog/justin-perrins-mustang (http://fueltank.cc/blog/justin-perrins-mustang)

I love the black but how do you live up with it? Cleaning/ polishing etc?
I used to have a nice black car ( not a mustang) and I cried many times seeing the paint gets swirl marks etc..!!

Two bucket wash, and soft drying towels are your friends if you don't want swirls.

You can't see it in the photos but the paint is pretty rough, so it doesn't worry me. It get driven a lot, parked anywhere and occasionally spends weeks out of the garage.
