Will this be a feature on Australian delivered V6 Ecoboost's?.

"2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fakes Its Engine Noise"

"As fuel economy and emissions requirements get stricter, automakers increasingly turn to engine downsizing and turbocharging. There's just one problem: many turbo engines don't sound that great. This means some car companies choose to fake the engine noise, and it looks like the 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost is the latest victim of this chicanery.

That's right: the Mustang, the original pony car, an American performance icon, has resorted to pumping augmented engine noise in through the speakers, much like modern turbocharged BMWs do. This makes me kind of sad.

This revelation was made by Road & Track's Jason Cammisa during his recent drive of the car, in which he pulled a fuse on the 2.3-liter turbocharged Mustang that caused both the stereo and the engine to go quiet.

So the folks at Autoblog today asked Ford what the deal was, and here's what they uncovered:

Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.

In fact, Carney is partially responsible for tuning and shaping the EcoBoost's note in the Mustang, and he said the setup serves two distinct functions. First, it cancels out some of the coarse noise as part of the 'Stang's refinement strategy.

It also allows Ford to enhance things by "layering in certain sound characteristics on top of what's already there," he said. To determine the right mix, the engine processor monitors torque output and changes things accordingly. "The intent is to be a natural experience," said Carney.

Active Noise Control, they call it. Granted, it's not like the car is pumping in an entirely fabricated sound, but at the same time it's inauthentic, isn't it? Can you enjoy the engine sound if you know it's not real, and being piped in through the stereo?

The UK's CAR magazine had a mention of this in an interview with Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Perciak last year. I guess this didn't get much attention at the time. Here's the section in question:

With the Ecoboost engine we have both active noise cancellation, and we also amplify the existing engine sound order. We don't create an artificial sound, we don't pluck one off the shelf, we bring in the real sound, process it, and play it through the car's speakers. Today's V6 sounds fantastic, and although the Ecoboost won't sound like a V8, it won't sound like it doesn't belong in a Mustang either.

Ford isn't the only manufacturer to do this, and it isn't done entirely because most turbo engines sound like crap — it's also to keep down noise, vibration and harshness. Today's cars are loaded down with insulation for a reason.

Previous Mustangs have had some sound augmentation as well, but that was done through a resonator pipe between the engine and firewall designed to let in more noise. BMWs go even further than this, playing a recording of an engine sound over the speakers.

The last time I drove a BMW M235i, I loved the way it sounded, but I couldn't allow myself to enjoy it because deep down I knew it wasn't real. Maybe that doesn't matter to everyone, but it matters to me. Noise is an important part of a driving experience, and a car that doesn't sound great isn't worth owning.

It doesn't seem like Active Noise Control is equipped on V6 and V8 cars, which is good. But Autoblog closes with one more disappointing tidbit: this system is integrated into the Mustang EcoBoost's head unit, so upgrading your stereo means no more engine sound."

Bummer.

What's the bet the aftermarket Geeks have chips for the head unit already being developed to make this noise control sound like a F18 Jet Fighter or a V12 Merlin, perhaps an open exhaust 427 Side Oiler.

But then Ricers have been doing it for years, changing their exhaust note  with their Fart Tips.

We are not getting the 6 cyl version here but I think this relates to the 4 cyl ecoboost

Post by: 66 Stang on May 03, 2015, 11:21:58 am
I have heard the Eco boost has a sports exhaust note that is played through the internal stereo system, much like some of the European cars now have, it's pretty subtle, but provides the sports feeling, so I was told. Not sure how true it is, maybe others with euro cars can help explain how it works.

Interesting article. The Australian delivered Mustangs will be fully optioned whereas the US versions have a base price and then additional costs for options so not sure if they took that into account. Their options also include different interior finishes and wheels that we will not have as options.

I am wondering whether the price difference is basically the cost of importing and dealer delivery charges which can vary as previously noted ...

Don't forget theres a difference in exchanges rates between US & OZ dollars as well when comparing prices.

Evidently there was an article in Saturdays paper re delivery delay to Australia. I missed it, can anyone elaborate. Estimated delivery on my contract with city Ford states 20th January 2016.

Seems like a long wait. I think the $1000 deposit is a bit steep shouldn't be any more then $500 been we have to wait over a year to receive our car.

My deposit was 10%. Paying over 6k upfront makes the hit at the end of the year a little less painful. Still dealing with the $3995 dealer delivery charge, which is extortionate.

My paperwork lists 2016 model, with a delivery date late Dec.

I asked about this, and they actually dont have precise dates, they would know closer to the dates of first delivery, plus they get a bunch in, and depending on where your contract sits with the others. You will be notified closer to the time.

I ordered late March, and even though the contract says Dec, the sales person advised most likely Jan/Feb

I heard but can't confirm that the first batch of cars to be sent across was 1500 and all these had been allocated prior to the end of March closing date.

Not happy Henry!

Ordered my new Mustang in March with expected delivery in Nov or Dec. I was kind of ok with the 9 mth wait (worth waiting for!!!).

Letter arrived today saying "the Ford Motor Company expects that all eligible priority orders will be fulfilled from November 2015 through to the second quarter 2016"

2nd 1/4 2016 could be June!!! Not a bad estimate 9mths + or - 50%

So, this is a business that is shutting down local manufacturing to focus on importing. Well, it looks like they know how to do that well.

The delay raises some interesting questions.  Will any technical specifications change? I have read that Ford will release in the USA summer an updated "Connect" system (radio, Sat Nav and lots of toys that link to the web via your phone - and the focus of the article is that Ford are not aligning themselves with Apple or Adroid devices - can use any phone... this is so that you don't make a $40k car purchase decision based on a $200 phone in your pocket). So, do we get the new kit?

If I was Ford Aust. I would be worried from a business risk viewpoint about the exchange rate movement over the long wait.  If the Aussie dollars falls as far as expected, how do you deliver the product for the prices that have been locked in with customers? What specs do they quietly reduce? At what point do they call the whole project off?

I am a sad and worried little pony tonight.

So many lowballers these days..desperate times.

Personally loathe people who offer way below selling or market costs, but thats what society has become accustom to

The new mustang is very well priced for its package. very difficult for 13/14 owners to recover

Yup, saw that one...
Been thinking for a while that something like that (or a newer one) would make quite a nice daily drive in a few years.

The V6s / 5.0 GTs that are here already won't stay up above the cost of the '15 models..
Although they probably won't come toppling down straight away because of the limited numbers of new cars coming across from the US..

The Ford Dealer said some thing about late order that had to be done by Wednesday last week and should have car by first quarter next year.

Interesting read Andrew. I note that the article refers to the '16 Mustang hitting dealer lots in the third quarter of '15. This suggests that all of us who have ordered our Ponies already, will receive the latest model, even if the Cal Specs aren't on the list. Here's hoping.

1. That Ford will be doing a reveal night at some dealerships, and everyone who has one on order, will be personally invited to come have a look at a car, sit in it, start it, BUT.... Not drive it.

2. All the orders that were placed by end of March have been confirmed as being supplied, starting to arrive October, with all ordered cars supplied by end of Jan 2016.

I believe it's simply diffenerent data measurements, Australia use different data to calculate the KW or measure it differently to the USA, it's been posted on the forum before, do a search on it.

It is the same motor and running gear in the car we get here.

You can buy all the Roush parts from the US, from the body panels, to grilles and stripe kits.. Even the ROUSH 2.3l supercharger kits! It certainly wouldn't be Roush 'certified', but you could make a 5.0 GT look the same and go the same with the Roush supercharger kit, exhaust and lowered suspension.. I had forgotten they had the license from Shelby for that, it would be a good option.
But personally, I prefer the look of the Roush over the Shelby. Each to their own..
I thought MM was approved for Roush as well.

Mark, I hope your talking about after market options, as standard options are pretty lame, Nicole wheels, black stripe over bonnet or a black roof, that's it.

I've been looking at a lot of American sites that already have a heap of aftermarket stuff for them

Yes definitely the after market options. Although they do come fully optioned which explains why the only standard options are left for wheels, stripes and auto/manual

On Saturday, MOCA Vic members were lucky enough to be able to see, touch, smell & sit inside a 2015 GT & Roush model all Thanks to Craig & Albert at Mustang Motorsport.  These vehicles are much netter in person than print I can safely say first hand and I think the younger generation will enjoy & enhance them especially the ecoboost 4. While the RHD conversation wasn't factory it gave you a great understanding of the end product and the overall feel of the car.

I did hear a few members say they were going to their nearest Ford Dealer to place an order.   :burnout: :evilone: :event:

It all depends on the engine you select, EcoBoost 4 running Pony and the V8 will be the GT Model so it gets the GT badge.

We’ve spoken about this old awful white tail light lens chestnut before.

So typical of govt. muppets telling us to use different coloured rear lenses and disable the burnout mode function to protect us from ourselves and giving us less a Mustang.  Unlike some of you lucky people, I’m not buying the first batch of Mustangs, but when I do, I would like to import a set of US red lenses, wouldn’t it be great if we could add the sequential red flashing units like they do in the State.  Question is the legality of it all, with the thought police muppets probably finding an excuse not to allow it.

But does anyone know if red lenses can be imported and fitted legally somehow.  Would love to know as I’m seriously looking at doing this.

At first I thought your pic could have been a fake, but it seems to be true, handbrake is on the passenger side. Glad they didnt go with an electronic handbrake.
Its also a surprise to see a different seat trim on the orange auto model shown..I didnt think there were any seat or leather options. If we are getting a premium version, I dont see any gauges on the centre consol vents.

Australians can jump the queue a own Ford's new Mustang right now – at a price
Ford Australia may have notched up more than 2000 orders for its first official Mustang more than six months before it arrives here in December, but if you're keen you can own one right now.

That's right, the 303kW V8-powered 2015 Ford Mustang Fastback GT is now available to drive away in, via Mustang Motorsport.

The Melbourne-based pony car specialist is the first – and we expect it will be the only – company to supply the new Mustang in right-hand drive with full Australian Design Rule compliance.

Only a handful will be made before Ford Australia delivers its first ex-factory RHD models in December.

As Australia's only authorised Shelby Mod Shop, Mustang Motorsport can even build you a 2015 Shelby GT packing 625hp (466kW) as standard or up to 700hp (522kW), courtesy of a Roush supercharger kit that will be available for the new Mustang GT from Australia's official Ford Performance Racing and Roush Performance agent Herrod Motorsport.

The only catch is a starting price of $125,000, which is $80,000 more than Ford's official entry-level EcoBoost Fastback manual ($44,990 plus on-road costs) and $70,000 more than the Fastback GT on which it's based (from $54,990 plus ORCs).

That hasn't stopped one well-heeled Mustang fan from purchasing the first RHD Mustang GT in Australia, where the only other 2015 Mustangs to arrive so far are a pair of LHD show cars owned by Ford Australia.

For an eye-watering $289,000, Mustang Motorsport is now also offering complete and rolling Signature series Super Snake versions of the iconic Shelby GT500, powered by a hyper-blown 5.8-litre V8 that slams down a staggering 850hp (634kW).

My thoughts being an ex car sales person/ wholesaler here is how I see what will happen with the release of the new Mustangs.... the good news is for second hand mustang buyers with the new release of the Mustang the price for earlier models such as 2006-2010 will drop dramatically ...In coming years the 2016 model will also drop like the falcon always has once they become common... The eco boost will drop the worse...The bad news is for people who have paid top dollar for earlier generation mustangs will be hit the hardest on devaluation.

The only mustangs that will benefit from the market will be the 60s early 70 classics these cars will only increase in price.

.... To see what Im saying look at ebay on buy now prices in the U.S for example a beautiful... 2006 Ford Mustang GT COUPE with 93000 miles is selling for $15 grand US... the same car in Australia with 132,000 klms $52,500... granted the dollar difference but once the Mustang is a common car in oz especially with the realist pricing.... that 52 grand GT will plummet...however look at a 66 fastback in the US your still looking for a good one between 35-and upwards.

Sorry to the guys who have bought an early 2006- 2010 but the market does dictate what happens.

People who are buying the new mustang are buying it because they want one .  They won't hold their value because the next model will come out and people will buy that one ,and that's if they keep bringing them in . Going back to a late model monaro cv8 ,take a 2002 it was around 65 grand on the road ,now worth around 20k for a good low mileage one ,but that's  because they were a limited build ,late 2001 to 2005 .  I have been watching the prices and they have come up a little in the last 12 mths by about 2 k .  Who really cares and if you want a new mustang go and buy one and be happy .

i think there's a few original pony owners who feel superior and have a macho attitude

Sure we all know new car owners cop the brunt of Dealer Deliver and GST and other associated costs, the the lucky second hand buyer reaps the benefit of not paying those cost, then the car depreciates naturally.

Carsales in general over the past few years have taken a bad hit..we all know this. No need to compare a 2001 Monaro as a collector comparison.

Bit of a old school boys club calling the new guy out. The car is coming so deal with it positively...embrace the car..you all are mustang owners

slow down tiger no one is picking on new car owners...its a fact that new cars loose there value as soon they drive out the show room door its not only here its how the market is...What do you think the new ford falcon will cost in about 10 years? Try about 5 - 8 grand the new commodore the same...right now I can go out and get a 10 yr old  2007 VE commodore for anywhere between 6-8 grand the same goes if not cheaper for a 2007 falcon...and probably about 10 years you will be able to buy a 2006 gt for a lot less than you might think...and if you read what I said I said the GT 2006 model in the U.S was going for 15 g not the oz one my point is that second hand Mustangs will be around for a good pick up price.... I do embrace the new mustang its a well priced car but unfortunately its going to kill some of the market on the 2006-2010 and later models its a fact!

I must be reading a different thread. Most posts are positive and in good spirit. The posts about the price and speculation about future pricing are not negative in my mind. Just good general discussion by passionate people who have a view they wish to share...

You guys seriously have nothing better to do than put shit on a good thing. I really dont get what you think to achieve by putting this car down.

If you believe you can buy a 2015 mustang in 5yrs for $15k..totally ridiculous.

bank1957..please move on past the light comment i made months ago. I dont hold grudges. Im sure you secretly smell your own farts and rate them

This is a Mustang Chat Room. Not shat room. Stop being personal, or the Karma Gods will see you in a negative way with all of your built up angst against those who don't see your way.
But then agian you can't help yourself, can you? :lmao:

People who are buying the new mustang are buying it because they want one .  They won't hold their value because the next model will come out and people will buy that one ,and that's if they keep bringing them in . Going back to a late model monaro cv8 ,take a 2002 it was around 65 grand on the road ,now worth around 20k for a good low mileage one ,but that's  because they were a limited build ,late 2001 to 2005 .  I have been watching the prices and they have come up a little in the last 12 mths by about 2 k .  Who really cares and if you want a new mustang go and buy one and be happy .

:agree: I'm one of those kids in "toys-r-us"...."I want that one daddy" & I don't give a *#!@ how much it costs nor what it will be worth tomorrow....I just gotta have it !!!!!

Hmm - checking mine now

Question (and sorry if it is already been asked), for the 2015/6 models

 - Shelby GT - kits that is sold via Shelby in the US and Mustang Motor sport here (circa 45k with no performance changes)
 - Shelby GT350 - sold via Ford (US only)

So, does that mean that for the GT350, Shelby licenced it all out to Ford rather than do it themselves - given a different motor etc, assume they just licenced the name?

cheers

Hi Greg, it will be best to discuss this further with Craig or Albert from Mustang Motorsport as they are Shelby authorised dealers within Australia.

Just spent a couple of weeks in the U.S.A, it was a nice surprise for Budget to upgrade us to a 2015 auto coupe. Not sure what level of options it had. It was only the six, but drove nicely, and we added about 1500 miles to the clock. Being a rental it came with no books, so finding how things worked became a challenge. On return we discovered the books in the wheel well (space saver on a styled rim) of the trunk!
Push button start - foot on the brake to start, otherwise just gives you ignition. Handy when passenger opens door after you've stopped it and you need to put the windows up. Need to push again to turn ignition off or you can't lock vehicle.  Plenty of personalisation as in most cars with electronics. Carbon fibre dash. Electric operated drivers seat was good, but very limited movement for passenger. Both were uncomfortable on longer drives. We did quite a few 2 hour plus stints. Plenty of goodies on steering wheel, cruise, radio, synch controls, phone controls, shift paddles. Also had traction control and rear camera. Fuel filler is cap less, has flap in the cap itself. Overall fuel economy was 25mpg. Had nearly 15000 miles on it when we dropped it off, and they put the sell sign on it.
Looking at the pricing in the States, we were surprised to see new cars have the price on the window paperwork when delivered to the dealer, eg. GT Coupe auto 39.915, GT vert auto 45,415 and the ti-vct 4 manual coupe 26,520 (plus on roads). These were the only ones the dealer had, although they would have had hundreds of cars in their yard. So no estimate of our rentals value.
Overall, decent to drive. Very much Falcon like in the way it ran and changed gears. Massive blind spots even with mirror in mirror. Unless you're 4 feet tall forget using the back seats. But then it is a Mustang. Would we buy one to replace our 65 coupe? Only if We were moving to the States to live.

"For ADR compliance we unfortunately

had to lose the sequential function and fit separate LED indicators in the rear bar.

THe Aussie Cars look like they will be coming out with the euro clear lights which we think is a bit of a shame styling wise.

So we are working on a Mod for the US tail lights and fitting the outer most bar with a Amber LED section. with the 2 inner bars of light staying red.
We are hoping to supply this mod in the future if people want the red US lights over the clear euros.

i went to the Dominelli Ford Kirrawee display this evening, we all reckon the rear is a total winner, no mistaking its a mustang (or celica hatch....)

and i agree that the red lens is a feature and clear lens wont do it justice. the 60's classics were all red and i think that styling is a tip of the hat in the right direction.

They can't be the blinkers down the bottom they have to be at a legal hight  .  Don't like the hand brake over the other side and then the cup holders right next to the driver . If they are going to do a conversion from left to right do the whole thing . Just my 2 cents worth .

Legal wise they must be ok ,I don't know but they look very low and if you were close to the back in another car ,say at traffic lights it would be hard to see them if a blinker was on as you would be looking up higher where the other tail lights are located .  Hand brake still looks wrong ,looks like its meant for a left hand drive car .  Think its the cup holders that make it look wrong . At the end of the day these are only my thoughts which mean NOTHING   But hey sounds like the blinkers will be going up top anyway .

The 5.0 litre in both models was superb - no head room at all in the fastback though. I'm 5'8" and I was crouching!  Great seats, sports steering mode and traction control off. Personally the convertible is the way to go if you want more head room.

The EcoBoost is a fantastic motor and the Yanks are already "adding on" components to increase performance.
But a 4 cyl in a  Mustang just doesn't sit well with me .... JUST MY OPINION!

From what I have seen the new mustang kicks butt in respect to the way it looks. So 4 or 8 cylinders is okay with me. Pros and cons with both. Just can't wait til they arrive and are cruising around the place...   :thumb:

Although I may be a long way off being able to afford one, I do want one and that's not good news for someone who is 6'3"!  :ouch:
I don't much like the look of the convertible, IMO fastbacks look much meaner...

there is a lot of adjustment in the seats, did you have the seat adjusted all the way down?
I'm about 5'8" and had no problem. :thumb:
Just spoke to a friend of mine he's 6'1'' he said it was fine.

I assumed they were talking about the front, and had me worried for a while there..

A lack of headroom in the back seat of any Mustang would be the least of my worries! I'd have to cut off my legs just to get in there!
... Besides, the steering wheel and pedals are in the front..  :evilone:

Anyway, good to hear I should be OK!

Unless the driver is five feet tall, or has really short legs, or likes being hunched over the wheel, you can forget about adult rear seat passengers. Don't worry about headroom in the back  - there isn't any legroom if the driver sits back a bit. Drivers seat has plenty of adjustment (electric). My passenger had no up/down movement at all. good fun car, but definitely not a people mover.

I don't think  fastbacks have ever really been designed for back seat passengers. My '69 is only good as a two seater and that suits me just fine. I'll leave the people moving to my wife and her Forester.

As the owner of a 69 Mach 1 and one who has been fortunate enough to sit in the new 2015 model, I can say that the rear legroom in the Mach 1 is massive in comparison to the new one. I'm 6'1" and there was literally a couple of fingers between the back of the front seat and the rear seat when I got in to a good driving position.

Seems to be a bit of room in the back when I set the seat to my driving position. I'm hoping the convertible has as much room in the back  as my Cobra vert has.

I'm normal size, all 166cm of me . I can fit into a lot of things that oversize people can't. Only problem I have is reaching something on the top shelf. That's it, I'm now going to take the Cobra for a run to make my day.

Don't know about that.

While many forum  members have indicated they're getting one, I think most buyers will be people (see how I did the non-sexist thing there?) who aren't necessarily rusted on Mustang tragics but and would have bought an XR8 or, shudder, an SS Commodore if they still made them in the future.

Anyway, I hope Ford sells a lot of them but that the buyers don't all join the club and turn up at meetings because I never get a seat.

Looks like a winner if you are not burdened with kids!

Surprisingly, got a good wrap up from the September issue of Motor magazine, which is renowned for its heavy bias to GM, should be called General Motor magazine.

I don't know why they compared it to a GM V8 family sedan and then panned it for rear leg room. Running 235x18 tyres that are only just better than wintertreads is also baffling.

I've always said they need to do comparisons with equal brand and size rubber. How many times do they compare automatics to manual cars?

Haven't really been a buyer of this magazine, or Wheels for that matter, for decades, so last year I bought a subscription to both. Fairly unimpressed with both, the writers seem to be impressed with their own self importance.

They are also sadly lacking in mechanical skills and knowledge. The attempt to run 300kph in the last Falcon GT showed a basic stupid mistake when then tried to run the number in the heat of the day when both horsepower and traction are reduced!

Back to the 2015 Mustang, might buy one after the initial rush, it'll be an automatic, I'm just a bit unsure of how good the US unit is. I would have preferred the ZF unit. I'm also glad they are providing them initially without superchargers too, no need for unnecessary complications.

The Ecoboost 4 cylinder Falcon does 14.5 to 14.8 second quarter miles and can get 32mpg.

But you are right the fours with hair driers just don't sound right!

With the horsepower load you are spreading it over a smaller area, I would expect greater wear over the years, as well as having the turbocharger system to need more maintenance.

Very exciting day today!!!!

After my birthday a few weeks ago, I found myself with a bit of extra cash and decided to buy myself a nice new toy.... Unfortunately, that's all they are.. But still! I can now say I own a 2015 Mustang 5.0 and a 1970 Boss 429!
The 2015 5.0 is 1:18th scale, the Boss is 1:24 scale... Both should go nicely with my collection of toy / model Mustangs... Which already includes a 1967 GT Fastback, and a model "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, as well as about half a dozen Hot Wheels Shelbys... One day I will have a real one!

... Unfortunately they didn't have a 1967 Coupe in midnight blue, if they did I would have got that too, the closest they had was a Shelby tribute coupe.

Hi Everbody

Just wondering if anyone has ordered a Convertible 2015/2016 Mustang, and what sort of deal you have crunched.

As i am looking at buying one for my wife  :thumb:

I've ordered an eco boost soft top for the boss - not much crunching going on just yet.
We are going to sell her current car before picking up the new one so we don't get low balled on the trade in.
Don't think the dealers are discounting too much as there is a queue of willing buyers.
It's about 56,500 on the road I think - V8 about 10k more.

Cheers

The GT is quoted at just a touch over 60K OTR. That's in Victoria. You can get a "build price" from the Ford Australia site. The biggest variation that I have noticed is dealer delivery charges. These seem to vary from just under $1000 through to an outrageous $3995. That allows a bit of bargaining depending on what the dealer hits you up for.

Cheers

I agree. Check the dealer delivery prices with the dealers around your area and go with the best price or ask another dealer to match it. A friend of mine did it that way with a dealer he likes to use.

Just saw my first '15 Mustang . . . . In Bruges (Belgium). It is on display at the local Ford dealership and has been in the country for around two weeks. Preorders are expected to arrive from December. Not sure what the asking price is but it ought not be too high, especially given the competition here . . . M5, Boxter, etc; which cost much less than what we would pay at home.

Before I canged my order from a turbo 4 soft top to a v8 fastback the convertible was going to cost me $58580 the gt fast back now is 60k few grand more. And the delivery charges changed went up another $500 don't know why

A dealer told me that the delivery charges were most of their profit. Not sure how accurate that is but can go some way in explaining the rise in charge for a V8.

Anyone get one of these today (email from ford)

Mine is a specified "Feb16" build and estimated delivery is Apr/May (which I am happy with)

I am hoping the "Sync2" comment is just part of their standard email and not reflecting reality

I specified build date in the contract - dealer told me the delivery estimate in an email (with all the normal "best efforts" blah blah)

So just had confirmation from Ford on the arrival of the new Mustang I have on order, the car was ordered March 2015, the car is being built February 2016 and stamped 2016 model, ETA available date from my dealer April 2016, I sure hope it's worth the wait, but pretty surprised by the delays, a newly launched car and over 12 month wait, interesting to see how this affects Fords sales going forward.

Hey guys!

First post, new to the forum, looong time Mustang fan and... I am finally getting one (manual GT)!

Still long time to wait though, ordered mine in the first week of March 2015, but just recently been told to expect it March/April 2016 :( What's even more annoying is that initially I was promised to get it in December this year... I hope it will be worth the wait!

Also, reading the posts, looks like I got robbed with dealer fees (~$4k)! I wonder if I can challenge it even though I have already signed the contract? Quote on the Ford's website comes out about $2.5k cheaper than what I'll be paying... that's an equivalent of a nice Roush exhaust that I was thinking of putting on anyway! :thud:

Some pics from the unveiling at Binks Ford last Friday...
Everyone got a chance to sit in it and have a look around it.. I think I saw a few people placing orders as well!
I don't know that I want mine in yellow, but I actually didn't mind it!
... Only 16 months til I'm off Ps, if only I could afford one.. It would probably get here just in time!

I wrote few posts ago - I was in same position as you, but I quoted Ford website and dealership management were really good and slashed the price. They issued a new contract. As this is an advance booking, you can even cancel the contract and not having to pay anything except for losing your place in orders. I would recommend, sweet talking to dealer... good luck  :smile01:

Just arrived home from the display at Wignall Ford Mornington. The yellow GT was paired with the Red Roush equipped edition. I was told (and I read it myself) that mine is still due for delivery this December. I'll believe it when I see it as the Ford on-line record also indicates that the build is yet to commence. Still, it would be a very nice Christmas present from me to me.

I'm the same as you I've been told June/ July. Arh when it comes it comes. Gives me more time to save  :evilone:

Bongos have had them for 12 months, bought mine (oxford white to match my real order) from him October last year...it's not the best authentic model, but it's the only one (maisto brand) available at the moment. I've bought a few mustang models from Bongos, gr8 service.

Article Posted on Sep 30, 2015 on Stang TV:-
By Chris Demorro

For five decades now, fellow car enthusiasts across the Atlantic watched with envious eyes as the Ford Mustang grew better with each passing generation. Meanwhile they were denied access to the legendary muscle car, unless they could afford extortionary import and registration costs. Ford finally wised up with the sixth-generation Mustang, building it on a global platform that will go on sale in dozens of markets on six continents.

Orders have come pouring in, with buyers in the U.K. alone ordering some 2,000 Mustangs. In an interview with Automotive News, Ford’s chief in Europe Jim Farley revealed that across Europe as a whole more than 8,000 Mustang orders have been put in, with the waiting list stretching until the spring of 2016.

Amazingly that’s actually shorter than the waiting list in Australia, where people placing an order for the Ford Mustang could have to wait until nearly 2017 to take delivery. Ford only just began production of right-hand drive and European-spec models a few weeks ago, and it’s going to take months to work through all those backorders. Surprisingly, the Ford dealer with the highest Mustang sales is in Sweden, where the Blue Oval has a deep fan-base and a vibrant muscle car culture thrives despite the long and cold winters.

The new Mustang is helping boost Ford sales in regions like Russia, which saw a 17 percent increase despite an economy that is officially in recession. There’s a ton of pent-up demand in Europe and elsewhere for the Mustang, and Farley rightly notes that the automaker can’t predict when the initial sales boom will cool off. Only once the excitement wears off can the sixth-generation begin building its legacy in the pantheon of Ford performance cars.

A friend of mine was in Florida recently & hired a GT. This is what he had to say & it's great to get an unbiased opinion from a GM fanatic....

"The short answer is looks great, sounds great, goes great & rides great. Very impressed after the first 280 miles .
This one is an auto with leather interior. Both Jay & I like the front seats, very comfy & supportive and the leather is nice. No way could anyone sit in the rear seat behind the drivers seat whilst it is in my position. No legroom at all, but that's Ok, I'm not buying it for the passengers.
I love the setup of the drivers cockpit, position of gauges & controls and the use of technology and "old school" look & feel. Again, very impressive.
The only negative I honestly have is the average quality and wide use of hard plastics in the interior. My current 2012 HSV E3 Clubsport is way ahead in material choice, fit & finish and appearance. Even the plastic covers & trim used in the engine bay are fairly average compared to my HSV. Maybe this is just the Ford way or maybe this is more noticeable on the model of the hire car we have, which appears to be a base model GT with leather. I hope our Aussie models are improved, otherwise I will just need to accept this different standard.
Overall, this is a really awesome car. The wait for my delivery is going to be really tough."

The camaro sounds like a V8 should and the mustang well a 6 cyl   the camaro stopped better also   build wise the camaro is finished off better all round  :omg:    . So   and we won't have the camaro here anyway ,well for now ?

I've read similar comparisons, overall the Mustang was a better cruiser than the Camaro....but that's where the likes stopped.....It's all about personal taste. When one considers the on road costs of a Mustang GT here, @ A$61,500 (manual) in my case, not bad value....I'm sure the Camaro will be more costly here if it does arrive.  My friend's quotation above is interesting as he has his Clubbie & also a VL Brock original, a GM purist, but couldn't wait for the Camaro launch if indeed it happens, so he has ordered a Race Red GT to match his GM vehicles.....

Do you guys know does the GT version we're getting here in AU comes with subwoofer in the boot? From the brochure it only says that it's a 9 speaker system with amplifier.

Just curious as I'm ordering some carpets and accessories as a Christmas present for myself (Roush exhaust coming in soon too!). Can't wait to finally sit in the car though, long and painful wait... ;(

When I enquired about the upgrades, the Rousch stuff STARTED at $12-15K and went up to about $45K (and I think that this is where the S/C version is) and the Shelby stuff started at about $40K and went up to about $95K.

Suffice to say, I think that 500KW is going to cost more than $15K.

More power sir?? How fast do you want to spend...?

Washed my new mustang today for the first time. Notice an unusual feel to the front guards, further inspections revealed the front guards & bonnet are aluminium.....for a vehicle (6 spd man V8 F/B) weighing 1709kg, and a lot of plastic through out, there must be a lot of heavy other stuff hidden!

Go to a Forum called www.mustang6g.com (http://www.mustang6g.com). They have an Aussie section. There is plenty of info as to how to obtain a copy of the Build Sheet. This Forum is dedicated to the new Mustang and there is always a lot of chatter about different things. It is a great reference tool for the new model mustang.

I haven't seen a build sheet thread on that forum David. I can only go with what came with my car. My dealer kept all the documents and stickers that came with my car including the big window sticker and what appears to be a build sheet type document on A4. It has the VIN in large numbers at the top and then a list of parts with the appropriate codes next to them and 'Pass' written on it twice. There is a second document with a lot of codes on it as well.
