Well after arriving home last Thursday and having recovered from the jet-lag, I thought it was time to head over to WSR and check out the status of the Mach 1 respray. The pictures below tell the story so far. The next step is rub it back, get it smooth and apply the various top coats (I'm not a paint wizz so forgive me for not using techo terminology). The car will then be pulled down, the engine removed and worked (heads, pistons, carbie, stally, diff with LSD, roller rockers, etc), engine bay painted, and underside detailed. The most amazing thing was that there was very little rust in the body and only a little filler evident. I was expecting to find that the car was more bondo than metal but I was pleasantly surprised. I head back to the Ghan next week and hope that all will be pretty well complete when I return.
I'll put up more pics as I receive them.
Thanks Troy.

Are you keeping it Black Jade or changing the colour?
-
Thought about changing it to Indian Fire but decided to leave it in Black Jade.
-
You're going to get a big surprise when you return, Dave. Will it be done when you get back this next time?
-
Hi Ash, Troy at WSR reckons it will all be done by mid April so yes, it will ready to drive on my return. I've seen Troy's work so I am certain that the change will be amazing.
Cheers
Dave

Excellent, what a great surprise to come home to. :thumb:
All the best while you're away. Be safe!

Just received these pics from Troy at WSR. Wow, what a difference. Now the work on the engine has to be finished. Am looking forward to stepping on Aussie soil again in a few weeks and taking this beast for a holiday drive Canberra to catch up with old friends.
-
. . . and with two weeks to go before I step on Australian soil again, here are the latest pics. The beast is getting ready to leave its cave. :pepper:

Looking really nice there Dave. Bet you can hardly wait.
-
Oh Yes... Car looks shyte hot! :thumb:
Rocket.
-
Dave, looks nice, how long you going to be in town for, or are you not heading up to the Nations capital
-
Hi Andrew, I'm heading to the Nation's capital after ANZAC Day and will be there for most of that week (27April - 1 May) but staying overnight in Albury on the way and Corowa on the way back. With luck, the Stang will be ready to drive.
You should be able to hear me driving around the Civic and Tuggeranong area

Looks good..

Just caught up with this. Sensational paint work.
-
Mwizz, the paint work looks even better in the flesh. Troy at Western Smash has done an outstanding job. The engine came back last week. I am hoping that Troy gets it back in and tested by the end of this week so that I can pick the car up and take the squeeze for a spin around the Mornington Peninsula. I hear that there is a MOCA drive arranged in that neck of the woods too. I'll be on the look out for a few "soul mates".
-
. . . and now the beating heart is back in the beast.
-
The beast has left the cave and is heading home. :pepper: Here are some snaps taken yesterday outside Western Smash in Sunshine. Looking forward to taking it for a spin around the Mornington Peninsula. :burnout:

Looks stunning, Dave. Very nice! :thumb:

That looks really nice.
