I started stripping back the paint on the boot and found a some rust and a heap of bog. It is probably easiest just to go an buy a new boot lid right?

yeah, i would, the rust has more than likely migrated from the inside.

:agree:
It's under the skin that will cause further problems!

yeah dont waste time , my trunk looked good then found the same as yours , couple hundred and you got a new one and your panel beater will love ya

With replacements as well priced as they are it is time to give this trunk the boot!

I ended up getting a new boot lid and was suprised at how reasonably priced it was.
