Hello - just out of interest are there any NSW people who think trucking the car to Adelaide is an option? 1,400km each way is a bit too far for my baby.

Retail rates I have got from Toll are about $1,100 (return), but maybe with a truckload of Mustangs we could get a special "bulk" quote?

Just an idea.

I'd be keen but I'm on the Gold Coast I think that would be too costly ha may be cheaper to fly to America and back

Cheers

if it is not Original Class ( Concours ) you are interested in , Display Judged would be the class for you to enter. Only Mustang Owners Club members are eligible for judging and Trophies. If you're not a member , now is the time to join up. All Mustang owners, Australia wide are invited to show their cars on the day however....the more the merrier

Registration forms are available now.

b:The Entrant must have owned the vehicle and been a financial member of their state branch for at least 60 days prior to the event to be eligible for any trophies.

It would be my understanding that if you were a member of the state branch for more than 60 days prior, then that would make you a Mustang Owners Club of Australia member....would it not

If you become a member, aren't you are a member from day 1 ? The 60 days is referring to vehicle ownership and financial membership of the club to be eligible for a trophy

didn't want to ruin a good thread.............originally I told someone that to be eligible for judging you need to be a member of MOCA, you kindly pointed out I was wrong.

slight correction there Dale non members are eligible for judging however the following rule applies;
b:The Entrant must have owned the vehicle and been a financial member of their state branch for at least 60 days prior to the event to be eligible for any trophies.

I fail to see how as you point out that non members are eligible for judging so long as they have owned the vehicle for at least six months prior to the event and must be a member of their state branch. My point is and still is that you must be a financial member to be eligible for judging and or trophies..................if you have owned the vehicle for six months prior and am a financial member of your state branch then aren't you a member, not a non member.
Title: Re: Mustang Nationals 2015

My understanding, may be wrong, is that a non member may have their car judged, but not be eligible for a trophy. To be eligible for a trophy, you have to be a member of Moca and been so for ??? days and owned the car for ??? days. Happy to be corrected
Title: Re: Mustang Nationals 2015
Post by: mustang_talk on March 13, 2015, 09:51:35 pm
I notice that the application form states '...only open to financial members of the MOCA'. So if you are not a financial member entry to display and concourse judged classes is not permitted. In other words mustangs of 'non members' will not be judged or awarded trophies as they are not permitted to enter to begin with.

:thumb: as first stated.............everyone is welcome, the more the merrier! Hell I wish everyone in Australia with a Mustang could attend and show off their car, but Judged cars need to be MOCA members! I will be spending the next three weeks cleaning mine

Dale, I did not mention a 6 month period of time, where did you get that from ?
Where in the concours guidelines and rules does it state that a non mustang club member is not eligible to have their mustang judged ?
Title: Re: Mustang Nationals 2015
Post by: mustang_talk on March 18, 2015, 07:58:49 pm
Yes, it may be that as it stands the guidelines would not prohibit a non member to have their car judged however would not be eligible for trophies. Is the form then not correct in stating that one must be a financial member!!

The only other point I would make is that any application form can be read in conjunction with the guidelines therefore making non members not eligible for judging.

The wording (rules) on the entry form should not be inconsistent with the rules that have been set by the national committee. this quirk in the rules re judging and trophies has been there for years, perhaps the state & national committees can revise the wording ?

( MY ) last word on this subject.... :ouch: If you want to enter the Nationals and have you car judged and be eligible to win a trophy if your car is good enough then you need to be a member of The Mustang Owners Club of Australia (regardless of state )

last word on this subject....

very arrogant to assume you have the last word on this especially when you avoided answering these questions,
I did not mention a 6 month period of time, where did you get that from ?
Where in the concours guidelines and rules does it state that a non mustang club member is not eligible to have their mustang judged ?

You quote this "2. CLASSES Entry to all Judged Classes are subject to the prerequisites of membership, ownership etc. as per rules 1.1 to 1.3."

Rules 1.1 to 1.3, are as follows;

1. ELIGIBILITY
1.1: Vehicle:
The Concours is open only to Ford Mustangs, including Shelby, Boss, Californian Special and any other version of the Mustang Body fitted with a Ford engine.
All vehicles must be fully registered in the owner’s state of residence at the time of entry and be entered in the owner’s Family Name. “Club & Classic” registration is permitted, trade plates or temporary permits are not.

1.2: Entrant:
a: Entrants to Concours Thoroughbred class are limited and must comply with rule 2.1.
b: The Entrant must have owned the vehicle and been a financial member of their state branch for at least 60 days prior to the event to be eligible for any trophies.
c:Entrants must decide before entering, in what class they want to compete in. Once the vehicle has been entered it cannot be placed in another class except at the discretion of the Head Judge, who may change the class entered into the appropriate class. Entrant will be notified of any class change.

1.3: Receipt of entries:
All entries must be received by the Concours Secretary in writing and signed NO later than 60 days prior to the event unless otherwise advised

So again I ask Where in the concours guidelines and rules does it state that a non mustang club member is not eligible to have their mustang judged ?

I like your persistence.. The guidelines are just that...guidelines. It looks like the organisers have made the final ruling on the entry form. The guidelines of any organisation should not be read as a stand alone document...2 pages have been quoted which appear to address your concerns... It seams pretty clear. Am I missing something...also any non members can try to enter their car if they like. Don't think they'd be accepted though!!

Enjoy the event all those that are going...

I agree that the guidelines are flexible and need to be however the concours document is titled "Mustang Concours Guidelines & Rules" The rules and guidelines are set in this document produced by the national committee.

For those of you who are confused or question the rules and ethics can I suggest you get onto your state's committee and work with the other volunteers and have you say, we who put these events together are approachable.

This is a car club where we get to be involved and be part of the movement, Concours events are for us to show what we have achieved and are proud to own, its not a multi- million dollar corporation!

3 simple things to have your car judged at the Concours
Be a member of  MOCA through your state club
Register your car in your name
Have it roadworthy and drive-able

Simple

Boss351, well summed up. What is the point though about not being a multi million dollar corporation? With 1000 members it's pretty big. Irrespective concourse events are taken pretty seriously by entrents, hence the detailed guidelines and rules...

well. I have just had a dummy spit and won't be there!! 1 month ago I had my car in to get a small chip fixed and a polish. Driven it once since then and one quick wash before putting under the cover again. Got it out to give it a quick detail before hitting the road. What do I find!! Overspray all over 1 side of the car!! Pissed off is not the word!! can even see in one spot where the tape has been and the overspray in a straight line. Not a happy camper. Can see it on the wheel arch and looked closer and can see a heap of it. Not noticable till you look for it, but then you can feel it on the paint as well. So Im staying home. Hope you all have a good time. I'm going to have a beer and park it back in the shed till tuesday when I will go and have a bitch fight with the crash repair. I casn hear them now. did not happen here, must have been at your place. Yea right, it lives in a shed with a cover over it!! Rant over
