Post by: HEVEN67 on December 20, 2006, 10:10:22 pm
Hi fellow mustangers, how about some of us meet at WSID and race our mustangs, early in the new year, it cost $45 and you get 6 runs in and its great fun, and beleive me you thrash your mustang more on the backroads than draging it, It will be so spectacuar to see. Ground pounding ,stampeeding MUSTANGS, Lets hear your Windsor Sing.

It has my old alloy windsor snr heads, my old 228/238@ .050 solid cam, 10.1comp, rpm air gap, 650dp holley.

The only reason I will not be going is if it is too hot.

Call me on ,Tuesday the 2nd

Hi Paul
I should have read this before I posted a reply elsewhere. I will be there to watch only. I dont like to give the girl to much of workout. Let me know what date you decide on. I have never been there before but I guess it is Eastern Creek ?;3

I will post a copy of our (Heven and mine) time slips when we get them.

Everybody tells me red is the fastest colour. Looks like I'm in for a whipping.;]

Nah, red is just too common. It is slowed by its reputation.
I'm sure any other colour will win.:(

The new 351W i have in the shead promises to be very nice when its complete, but I am having soo much fun with this 289 I might just wait a while , I also have a 302W also we are putting together , it has some goodies in it too,Im not sure what to do with that one yet?I bought it for the roller rockers for the 351!
We need more partisipants (I think that spelling is wrong)partiatpencse,partypants,.... people!
PS yea dave heat is not a good friend at the drags, all that ideling.

I feell like Im being ganged up on here!:w Whats going on? 15's with a 347!  ......... youve got a weapon and your pulling my leg;_ probibly does 12's flat, especially if you need slicks, I got 225's and I dont have wheel spin problems!

15.0 was the last run of the night after an oil spill.

My 1st run was a 14.0 and my 2nd run was 13.7 .

All three runs were spinning tyres 1st ,2nd and half of third.

The slicks I have are circuit slicks which I use on my circuit car. So I thought trying them may help stop some tyre spinning as I have 4.1 diff and a 3.27.1 1st gear.;+

As I have no rims to try my slicks on, it will be 235/60/14 street tyre's.:(

Unless the guy who built my 289 thew in some extra bits and didnt chage me, it will be red 67 289 v's white 68 289 ::

Does that make you feel better?

Was that with your 347 or 289? The previous comment wasn't ment to be too serious!
So correct me , 347, 411.1 diff, T5 and your pass was 13.7 correct? I was confused as to what you were running, I just wanna ask different folk as to the peformace the acheived and with what running gear. I got no Idea what my 289 has done to it! Its got a cam and roller rockers, standard dizzy and extractors. I bought it like that but it just needed some TLC and a tune, I did port match the inlet to the heads, replaced the holley with a rochester and I just put a 300.1 diff for cruising, It had a 325.1 , the take off has suffered but thats the price to pay! I took it out today and Im not sure if the diff is well! It has a shudder at 80ks and i will put it on the hoist tomorrow and check the uni joint,
Im really keen to see how your T5 box fits in!I got a heap or questions!! Wednesday is fine so far.
But If I dont make it this wednesday I wont be able for quite some time Im afraid as I am having spine surgery the following monday and well the rest is a mistery, but I hope to be back and at it ASAP

That was with the 347.

Not taken seriously at all ! :(

T5 :w LMAO..................Tremec 3550 is a little better than a T5(not much, just a little):a

13.7 was the best time(from memory @about  104mph)

No problems with heaps of questions. Love to help where I can.

Maybe we can swap cars for one run if you want?

Post by: HEVEN67 on December 27, 2006, 09:29:13 pm
whats LMAO ? mean? sorry I throught you had a T5. Whats the difference?   Im yet to educated regarding gearboxes, my friend has a T5 behind a 5.0L and its a very nice shift even when its coping a thrashing, its a falcon V8 box with a mustang extension housing, but ive heard that the T5 needs a mod to fit the 67/68 floor pan.. otherwise the output shaft angle isnt correct.

You ought to go well if youve got the 411.1 gears but the cruise speed RPM must be huge.
I can understand why its spinning 1st 2nd and 3rd, you might find the 289 will go really well cause of the 5 speed, as it can get its power down but wheel spin may still rear its ugly head ( only cause wheelspin is a dragracers worst enemy), But great burnouts!
Sorry but I might have asked before! Why did you remove the 347?
Im going onto a 351W (which ougt to be ready end jan)and a T5 (or similar) with the 323.1 diff, I am making a bold prediction that I am chasing.........low 13's:p, I am under the impression that the short diff isnt going to use the engine torque to its best advantage unless you can accuratly GET OFF THE GAS! Wheras the taller diff is more forgiving.

PS did you go to the drags on saturday? the fastest time and speed was recorded outside the USA for the Top Fuelers, IT was magnificient:( 4.51@332mph

That did you opt for with the 289 build?
Cheers paull

I have had a look at the forecast for next Wednesday and its looking like rain ! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  :w

LMAO....Laugh My Ass Off

The difference between T5 and Tremec is the ratio's and Torque ratings.

The cruise rpm's in 4th @ 70mph  are 3500 rpms and 2500 rpms in 5th.

347 was sold to fund the next engine project.:(

No I didnt get to the drags but I watched it on the net.

289, 10.1comp, my old solid flat cam, my old windsor snr heads etc

What mods are you doing to your 351?
Title: Drag racing at WSID all welcome
Post by: HEVEN67 on December 29, 2006, 03:25:39 pm
Oh yea ! Thats right you got 5th gear hay, That makes a heap of difference! what was I thinking:_
1 to 1!  Thats why im going to a 5 speed and then I will go back to my old 323 to 1 diff!
The 351 is what I call a family job!(LOL) It being built by my nephew , He is an engine builder and has a good rep, and as I know quite a few engine guys, they have had nothing but praise to say about his work, Its balanced and blueprinted with the heads are 302's and are  being ported and polished, big valves and the exhaust ports being modified and flowed and matched to the inlet and exhaust manifolds, roller cam and external oil feed to the lifters, roller rockers ,standard duel plain manifold and a 750 DP holley, dizzy is standard with a peronix electronic unit and recalibrated, I dont really want a wepon and Im telling him no mre than 10.1 but he's hinting 10.5 , we are still debating, You know how these young blokes are Tring to get the best from it. From the outside it will look close to standard. THe flywheel is a standard ford issue, but the clutch will be either an 11" or a duel plate.
The only prerequsit he has placed in it is its either a hi-stall auto or a 5 speed, Id like the 5 speed but that depends on the how loose the purse strings are when it comes to it! Im not ditching my 289 and auto cause the are the originals from the car, so I will put them in the shead and sit on em for a bit,

Paull, I would change manifolds, at least an Edelbrock Performer dual plane, paint it engine colour if you want to disguise it, even file off the edelbrock name if you really want to be sneaky.
Best wishes for your recovery after surgery.

Post by: HEVEN67 on December 31, 2006, 07:31:34 pm
The engine builder also said it would be a slight advantage, but only cause its a little lighter, otherwise he has done Quite a few and its barely noticeable and the height of the carbie is also a issue as ive got next to no clearence now and these manifolds are very deep set around the carbie.
Im still tring to decide what to do next, Should I do the 5 speed and pedal box and stuff of wait and do it all together,or wait and keep the stuff for my next car? I gotta sell my boat to fund the next one first. Anyone wanna but a V8 ski boat?

Did you put the 351 in it originally? did the extractors fit the same?
Title: Drag racing at WSID all welcome
Post by: BLKPNY on January 01, 2007, 07:16:42 pm
I tried to answer this in your other post, My extractors are special 351 into 65-73 pipes (special because they fit 351w into 65-66, and will fit the later ones)
The mounts, bellhousing etc are all the same, unless you have a real early windsor, with the 5 bolt bellhousing instead of the late 6 bolt.
