Title: 2002 Cobra Air bag fault code 33
Post by: dwdrapper1 on December 02, 2023, 10:30:54 pm
So the rattle at the top turned into 3 spun main bearings and a full engine rebuild
Nine months later it is back on the road and better than ever but is now throwing an airbag fault code 33 (flashes 3 times then 3 again).
I've checked all the connections at the module and wiring up to the passenger airbag, fuses, resistors etc but all seem OK.
I can't see the airbag comm plug to short and reset.
Anyone have any suggestions? Or recommend an experienced auto sparky that isn't going to spend hours "finding the problem"?

Do you know which airbag is the issue? Driver's or passenger side?

If you need them, I have spare driver's and passenger airbags for our Cobras.

Thanks Jiffy. It's saying passenger side open circuit.

How much do you want for a replacement passenger airbag?

kind regards, Darren.

Hi Jeff,
Clearly, I'm new to this platform.....I can't find your message under "My Messages". Perhaps old skool email might be better? dwdrapper1@gmail.com
Cheers, Darren.

Just by way of update too for those following the discussion;
- took it to Bremer Ford to troubleshoot and Service reception gave a blank look. "Our diagnostics probably won't talk with anything that old!"
- took 2 hours of troubleshooting with the old school foreman and determined the plug at the passenger airbag was dirty (open circuit).
- cleaned and reconnected. Light/fault went away. $250 later....

-
- drove it Christmas day and Merry Christmas, the fault is back.
Booked in with Sterling auto electrics in January.
