Title: Insurance - from Daily Drive to Weekender
Post by: JasonK on April 17, 2019, 04:24:24 pm
I have just changed from using my GT convertible as a daily driver to a weekender. Or more accurately, one a quarter....

My insurance with a regular insurer stayed at something north of $2100.

Eventually I got insurance from one of those on-line only mobs for about $1100.

Pays to do a bit of research (including into who bask the insurer).

Hopefully you don't need to make a claim.

I have heard a lot of horror stories from my mates in the crash repair industry about some of the online insurers.

Taking months to assess claims, not paying for quality repairs, using non-genuine parts, no-choice of repairer.

This is true. Hence my advice to also check out who is behind the insurer's brand. You might find a bundle of them are owned and operated by one larger insurer or a bank, and another group owned by some other entity. And some stand alone's. Chose carefully. Or carry a really nasty lawyer in your wallet.  :smash:

Doing the same - I have found Shannons the cheapest for non daily drivers (seem to have more options around "laid up" and low use, even offer 20k coverage for race use if the car is old enough). They were about average for the newer ones (~ $800 for new mustang) but I like them all being together
