This is on MOCA Vic site ...
NOTICE :: STOLEN CAR -- 1970 Mach 1 bright red with dragway mags and a tacho dash, automatic with a 351 motor. One thousand dollars is offered as reward for information leading to the car being recovered. Contact Ian on ph (03)9879-3068
EDIT 26/5. Just spoken with Ian and the car has NOT been found. Was stolen from Ferntree Gully. He wishes to re-iterate a $1000 reward is still offered for information leading to the car being recovered

Could use the grand but no sighting as yet.
I'll tell you what I'd do if I found out who it was that pinched this Mach1.

A photo may help jog someones memory and a rego number but the plates are probably long gone.
It got me motivated to finally install an alarm.

Much huffing and puffing about yet another stolen car. I have had more than my share of vehicle thefts and know what it is like.
Despite this I notice few ever bother to check or ask too many questions about where all the good mustang parts come from that are advertised in various places like Ebay and elsewhere.
Yes many are legitimate sales and quite a few are probably not but most people just turn a blind eye so there is a ready market for stolen parts of all kinds - no questions asked. Most people are just happy to get what they want and do not ask questions or really do not care that much.
As long as that culture continues more cars will get nicked.
I would be 70% sure you can expect to see bits of this vehicle being sold off in the not too distant future, most likely in another State.
Next time you are in the market for some bits, especially from private sellers, just remember you could be looking at parts from some unfortunate guy - like this gentleman - who had his car nicked. Classic Mustangs are not exactly that thick on the ground. So at least ask some questions of the seller before you buy and satisfy yourself that you are not buying stolen parts.
Yes I know. Now everyone will say it's all too hard etc etc etc. .... and life goes on as usual. (That is until you are a victim and your nice classic car is being stripped).

I'm always interested in knowing the theft prevention measures that were in place so we know what does and doesn't work and how thieves are getting around them. Anyone know about this one? I hope it gets returned, the thought of some poor bugger's pride and joy being dismembered for parts is plain ugly. All the more reason photos would be a good thing, Sean has a good point, we should be keeping an eye out for each other, we should be alert for (unique) parts that match a car we know was stolen.

The penalty for offenders caught is simply inadequate.
Should be ..5 years jail first offence...10 years second offence.

If they did that, we would need more prisons. The government would need more taxes to fund it and the public would be even more peeved.
Lets just cut off fingers for each offence.

I was in the police station the other day and there was a poster about marking your property with your drivers licence number.
Having most of your parts marked in this way would certainly slow the sale of parts to other users.
the marking was simple V:012345678
V for Victoria followed by your licence number.
Once the vehicle is stolen post here that it is gone and keep an eye out for the numbers on any parts that go on sale...

People who would steal someones car are not even worthy of organ donors.. I remember scumbag teenagers around my area used to go round pinching the EA falcons and that with the old dipstick in the ignition trick. It makes you wonder if they now have decent cars if they have had their car stolen, how would they feel?
I was looking at the GPS alarm system on ebay for $250, especially after that original shelby GT350 was stolen and found in bayswater from the use of the GPS. I assume the alarm would have more wiring then my mustang, has anyone fitted one of these?

There was some discussion about a GPS alarm system on another forum. Waiting on results to see how they go. GPS alarm is fine, but then there is the monitoring software to actually track the location of the vehicle.

GPS/tracker including 12v wiring. $66 on Evilbay. Sim card $1 per month from Kissmobile plus text costs at 15c per report.
You can set it up so it will txt you if it moves at all or goes out of a defined area. It will also txt its location whenever requested. Not saying its perfect but it seems to work well.
On this one you have to input the co ords it txts you into google maps and that gives a location.
