I saw that one. I wonder if he got knocked back for modifications?
-
I like how they just "changed" the Code...
-
The new import laws say no modifications ,so no wheel tubs for a start .
-
Wouldnt mind seeing some better pics of it. I wonder if you could get approval as a parts car. I reckon he would have his hand well & truly on it claiming 700hp, it would need a bit more than a big cam & PI manifold.
-
What a jam to get yourself into, somebody didn't do their homework or thought they could sneak it in. Very costly mistake either way.
-
I was looking at it last night. Think he is in a bit of a jam!! Parts car only now, or drag car. Think he is wayyyyyy oooout on his prices!! Love to see the dyno sheet! !700 is a big number!!
-
Oh it can't be 700hp. But I'd be happy for someone to prove me wrong with evidence.
If that's 700, I'm 500 haha
-
I think its going to sit at the wharf for a bit longer
-
How much is that in itself going to hurt his pocket you reckon?
-
Its imports like this that is making a normal import so much harder now.
-
Seems odd to me ... I dont believe you need an ANDRA licence to import a race car. Whose to say it has to be drag raced ? ...
It will just never get registered.
So why doesn't he just get it out of quarantine and figure out what to do from there ?
Weird.
Nice car though !
Cheers,
Frank.

You would need a licence for a motorsport category relative to what the car is built for.
My brother has his licence... I'll offer him $15k...

Ha. you read my mind as that was what I was thinking of doing!!
-
umm , so how did it end up in australia ? as you know paperwork must be complete before shipping so obviously he shipped with no dotars approval , and more than likely he shipped in his own container as he imports tools and came unstuck ! norty norty
-
How close was the offer Steph?
-
Maybe he did have DOTARs approval, but just fibbed a bit on the 'lack of modifications' - one would imagine that they don't like that...
-
Parts car only now, or drag car.
If you remove the mods from a parts/drag car, can you get it registered later if you restore it to stock?

one worded answer = No.
Legally, you'd have to export it and import again to get import approval to be allowed registration.
