« Last post by Q1780 on Yesterday at 08:08:55 pm »
Hello, I’m a recent member so pls forgive me if this is a particularly common request. I’m looking for advice on a reputable company to do a LHD to RHD conversion on my 67 coupe. 289 engine. Preferably in Qld.
Thanks

I was going to suggest the use of a Boss 302 carb spacer which has a built in PCV port , then noticed your carb setup. Hydraulic hose shops will sometimes have all kinds of fitttings like the one you just made.

Good idea - I guess I could try two of them, I have a CJ base-plate here which I could compare to the B2 spacer. I'll have a play with the brass fitting first and see how I get on...

Via eBay. One additional note: The standard mounting brackets might not fit perfectly. I personally modified mine to ensure a tighter fit against the radiator support panel.

so, brakes are in and done - I haven't bled them yet because it's entirely likely that the master/booster will have to come out for the engine to go in, so I'll likely be doing that.

The engine bay will get a bit of a clean up before then, and I have new rubber curtains that cover the front suspension about to go in....

The booster needing vacuum fed to it raised an issue I hadn't considered - where to draw the vacuum from the intake to power it...
I had a look at the manifold and the only place to draw vacuum from was a boss that hadn't been drilled yet, so I would have to remove the carbs, rockers, pushrods etc to get the manifold off so I could drill and tap it - wasn't really looking forward to that very much...

So I had a look around and figured that I would be better off removing the PCV setup (again) and drilling and tapping the side of the brass fitting that the PCV fitting screws into:

Others have done something similar and apparently there is enough vacuum as the PCV isn't in operation all the time - so: fingers crossed!!

I got a set of 1 inch lowered springs from the USA and it was fraught with problems: slow, expensive and US Customs even bent one - which took more expense and effort to get straightened.

So, I think a good and cheaper option is to find a suspension shop specialising in leaf springs and have a set made to your requirements - and you'll be able to keep the lower spring with all the part numbers (which keeps it original). It is rare to find off-the shelf springs that will match your exact height requirements so having a custom set is a good way to go.

General advice is to avoid lowering blocks.

Options are to either buy mid-eye or reverse-eye springs that will achieve lowering (but not an exact science as your existing springs may be sagged), or get a specialist to reset your existing springs (and maybe add a half or full leaf depending on their advice).

I did the latter on my 65FB about 10 years and got it done at Suspension City (used to be in North Melbourne but now in Pascoe Vale) - https://www.suspensioncity.com.au/.  Cost me about $440 back then, so would maybe be double now.

The benefit of the latter approach is they will get it sitting exactly how you want it, but with new springs its a bit of pot luck.
